More or less, within those 5 commentaries, sums up his own contributions to the sound of Quo as well.

Slightly off thread, but I am surprised they haven't made an album of the non-album tracks such as Joanne and the like.Any way , it's a bonus track and not on the album proper. Interesting view on ROLD live v Studio version. In a similar vein but opposite to ROLD, I much prefer studio Caroline to live Caroline. All the others work either way for me, but what a rich seam.

Well I gave the album some hammer today. I don't know why but it should be right up there with my faves of On The Level , Quo and Dog, just on the basis it contains some of my fave live anthems, but it just falls short. Whilst I can appreciate A Reason for Living and Its Better Now , probably more than I did back in the day , I dunno. I can't seem to get it out of my head that the guitars in A Reason for Living sounds like a Sooty and Sweep argument...yeah I know. Still Forty Five Hundred Times, Softer Ride and Caroline sound ace, closely followed by ROLD, although to me this track comes alive, live. BEL is one a lot of people rate , but for some reason has never got me, don't get me wrong it's good , but not in the same class as the other four already mentioned. Claudie hmmmm , sometimes I like it sometimes not, plus ARFL and AIBN , which have grown on me, make this about next best along with Piledriver in my Quo album ratings. Joanne as a bonus track naaa, maybe it's that track which is skewing my ratings?

It's off in the car tomorrow, haven't listened to it in age.Always preferred Softer Ride over the studio version of ROLD, but some class tracks on this.

Tried to screen print this album cover onto a tee shirt when at school. One of the best album covers they did.

He has also posted a great pic of the 'engine room' with Al in his studded jeans on the drum riser.

I didn't get as far as Back to Back , as this album was the one that finished it for me thirty seven years ago . Was Back to Back named as it was another dreadful album following 1+9+8+2?

Michael Lorant: So, you're not happy about the last Quo albums? How far back does he go with that answer then ? Seems he doesn't like anything ...I think maybe he might be a little bit insecure , not sure though.

Side 2 and CRWM/ Rocking On, prefer the second half by a long way. Not heard it live but have seen a few clips and think there is better album stuff not used in the set that would have been better. Runaway falls into the Shady Lady bracket and feels like a Quo by numbers track. High Flyer definately works , although I always think production wise it only sounds half finished. Breaking Away has one of those outro's that I wished was also used as an intro ...and throughout the track, good stuff. All in all an enjoyable all round album , although falls behind the classics.
