Talking to Mick after the show they decide whether it's a Roadhouse Blues or a Rockin All Over crowd early doors. Sadly we were a Rockin' venue. Too many Sat at tables. Rick welcomed us to the whist and bingo night!
Wish I had recorded at least one song Gerh, but enjoying it too much to get the camara out. Maybe next time. Going to try and get up to Darlington.

I saw a band last night, they weren't Status Quo but they played the Quo I like. Even had one former member on drums. I' ll give Backbone a listen out of interest , then decide if I like it or not regardless of what name is on the front cover. Dont mind the two songs i have heard so far.

.... and it's a shame 'cos [to me] JC is the only drummer who makes Quo sound like Real Quo [but kudos to PK and MattL too] I did say to him , that I thought it was great to hear some old Quo tracks played like Quo. Spud said yeah, he thinks Francis is missing a trick there! Not sure if he meant by not playing some of the old ones, or in John's words because they have a real groove ..or a bit of both maybe..

So an absolute top night and gig. How do you beat it? Probably by doing this! You probably all know this already but Rick Parfitt Jnr will be playing with them at Minehead , whilst Nuff is coming over to sing. Stayed in the same hotel and fair play to John, he came across in the morning to have a chat with my wife and me as were packing our stuff.Top bloke , top band and if you haven't had chance to see them yet , get yersens down and enjoy them whilst you can !

Well , it was my first time and it didn't disappoint . Bizarrely though for this sleepy quiet Yorkshire rural market town ( its pronounced Massem John) there was a beer and music festival at The White Bear and the Mighty JCQ Live in The Town Hall all on the same night. I got there early to avoid the rush!

Masham this weekend. First time seeing JCQ . Looking forward to it. Cheeky stop over in the square about 50 yds from the gig as well. As a first timer you need to give us a detailed report. Looking forward to it. Haha , ok then, if I get time I will do one.

Has anyone ever asked a band member about the "anti nuke" thing? I suspect the idea came from outside the band, but who knows? I suspect Francis liked the idea of being seen as more serious, more adult oriented and less lame brained! I don't know why the band chose it but it was very topical after 1979 and the incident at Three Mile Island. I remember going with the school to an exhibition about nuclear science and shocked at having to walk through a group of protesters to go inside. There were a lot of demos in the following years too. So certainly the covers were topical. And I suppose it fitted with the title of the album , which is taken from the lyrics of the headline single What Your Proposin. Thank goodness they didn't go down the runny nosing route!

Have now given it a proper listen. Will stick with my fave 3 . Coming and Going being my fave track by far. Felt like it should be last track in the epic proportions, if it had a bit more variation to it. Still class though.Run to Money and Name of the Game least favourite, although never all that keen on What Your Proposin and Lies. I think this may have been the start of the end for me- put off by weak singles. Anyway banged it on the telly , which also meant that the album cover was on tv for the duration. I think I rank the cover along with If You Can't Stand the Heat as one of their worst. Could never understand why they suddenly started going anti nuclear message, when they were never a political or social message sort of band lyrically.

Hmmm. Not so sure about this Holy Trinity lark. I havent really played this album in decades, nor felt the need to. I have just given it a quick play through , but didn't reach the end of many of the tracks. Over The Edge, The Wild Ones and Coming and Going were, back in the day,my favourites and I think that still stands true today. I do like JCQ version of C and G live and think they missed a trick not playing that in the set, seems DDMC was the one that made it and once in, has stayed and been revisited over the years, outstaying it's welcome (for me) like many others. Would love to hear, for a laugh, Rossi try and sing Run to Mummy live. I bet he wouldn't be able to get the words out fast enough, especially in the Jeff drumming years!

Pretty sure I have seen a Getty photo with Al wearing the jacket. It's an on stage photo, but doesn't look 'staged'to me. I tried to up load it but failed miserably. Just googled 1970s photo's of Status Quo on stage.
