Will there be one? Thanks to frozenhero who posted this on the other board is a quote from a recent interview by Francis in Germany. And it is looking like there might be one. . Michael Lorant: So, you're not happy about the last Quo albums?
FR: We, and that includes the various producers, have produced music which we thought should be made under the name of Status Quo. It often sounds really good and is technically better than 70s Quo, but on the whole, they aren't albums which the world, including me, have been waiting for. That's why I want to produce the next Quo album myself. And I want to give the band the freedom to sound as it does and not the way anybody imagines Quo 2019 or 2020.
This is translated from a German magazine called Eclipsed and part of a longer interview to promote his book and album with Hannah Rickard. A link to the magazine's website.

Hi guys.
I have read the amazing Francis book and had the pleasure of seeing him talk too much in Crewe. I can confirm that there is a new Quo album in the offing as he writes about it near the end of the book.
He says that he has been writing with Bob Young and one of the new songs is called Waiting for a Woman which he is very enthusiastic about.
He says the album will be popular with the the long term fans of Quo so it is all quite exciting.
See you out there somewhere soon...

... I'm not sure I trust his judgement: his favourite Quo songs are shite, his favourite musical genre is shite, his love of synthesized drum computer sound is shite, his sartorial choices have been shite, and don't start me on the abomination (M****N R*****E). In short: Frame, stay away from the mixing board. Get John Eden in, listen to Bob, grow your beard and wear some denim, and you might stand a chance of creating something worthwhile. (And don't listen to bootlickers, kick Swisscheese in the n*ts.)

Thanks for posting it here too, I forgot all about it. The funny thing is that the interviewer asked really short questions and Francis immediately picked up on that.

His production on RTYD was mostly praised. And I have no idea what M****N R*****E is supposed to mean. I do agree with getting John Eden and Bob Young involved, though.

Michael Lorant: So, you're not happy about the last Quo albums? How far back does he go with that answer then ? Seems he doesn't like anything ...I think maybe he might be a little bit insecure , not sure though.

Looking back at his answer I think he's talking post 70s Quo or post 76 Quo when they started using producers. But yeah, he probably doesn't enjoy those much himself. We did though.

I may have imagined this, but did Francis say somewhere recently that a new Quo album could be a cross breed of Rock til You Drop and Thirsty Work?

Oh, I got it now. Actually I think he's made worse songs...
Re: What albums he's referring to - I took that as meaning mostly Quo albums of the new century. Maybe from UTI onwards, it's kind of vague, but it does seem like he's now looking back at some of those modern records and thinking that he was writing to fit a particular category.
