Guy on the other forum, well connected with the band, gets albums months before they are released and has news months before its announced, has said he won't be back until the UK shows. Right now, I'm looking at an advertisement for the gig here in Ireland, in the newspaper and Rick is advertised. If he's not there, this is actual false advertisement so I've no clue what they think they are playing at. Not everyone is a gobshite Yeah, I saw that FW. Its Frame66 trying to calm down a spat on C&C and he says, "easy, easy, he will be back for the UK tour" but he does not confirm if that actually means only the UK element of the winter tour. Or if he means the European/Irish legs also. Interesting to note in that thread that Rick's son has tweeted another lovely pic of Rick looking good. I've put a copy of photo up in Rick on the mend thread. twitter.com/RickParfittJnr?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5EauthorThey just need to cut the bullshit and speak on the subject. I understand if Rick is not well enough for it and wouldn't want him putting himself at Risk. At the same time though, people buying or who have bought tickets have a right to know.

NOBODY has said that Rick will NOT be playing on the Last Night Of The Electrics Tour Nobody from the Quo camp has but one of our members here seems to believe that is the case. Look at deepthroat's post above. But yes, I agree, that it doesn't make sense he would only play part of the tour unless of course he is much sicker than we know and he needs that amount of rest. Folks we need to wait for an official announcement before we can sure Rick will only play the UK dates. Rick not playing on the European leg of LNOTE has been posted about before, so it's not just me. See statusquo.boards.net/post/57314/threadA lot of stuff that is posted on here is missed because there are so many Rick threads. But, equally, info like Rick not playing Hyde Park has gone under the radar because it was announced exclusively to fan club members, most of whom who don't want to share the news for fear of having their membership cancelled. Then we have a superiority complex going on with some of them who think that they are above this forum, so information is sparse. Regardless, any gigs beyond the previously announced ones in August and September that Rick is not able to attend should be announced to ALL fans. But as alluded to, this b(r)and want to maintain a nicey-nicey image. AND they know fans will demand refunds. Billybragg may find that hilarious, but it will happen.

They are using Rick to sell tickets for this tour. If he is not there, it's false advertisement and they leave themselves open to a lot of shit.

Thanks @deepthroat for all that info. I simply read back in this thread and spotted your post. But yes, so many threads on Rick and you weren't the only one to day this.

And I'm on the dole so I can't afford it but, as I said, I have or had a loyalty to them.

Well in that case you probably do have a gripe with them IF Rick doesn't appear (and very probably a good case for a refund).
At the moment though they haven't said he wont be appearing so even though it may grate with you, the advertising is correct.

People know fine well that Quo could delay any announcement as long as they see fit in order to achieve the best possible result for themselves. That probably means giving fans only a week notice in advance, by which point further ticket sales are negligible, and fans who have already bought tickets have very little time to sell them on, so end up going anyway. Look at the Aquostic II announcement. The tracklisting was on here first, and management were forced to make an announcement, in order to not look silly.

This is the thing though....That guy, who is on here also, said on the other board that Rick won't be there until the English dates. That fucker is always right. He knows Here in Ireland, they are using Rick on the posters and on the radio to sell tickets for the gig in Dublin......Granted, they've only sold between 2,000-3,000 Tickets in a 14,000 capacity arena I just wish I knew...Honestly, I don't care about the refund...I just don't wanna be without Rick

The fact stands tho, there has been no OFFICIAL announcement as to when Rick will be back/if he is actually coming back, until then everyone is in the dark and the advertising is correct.
What NEEDS to happen (and I've said this a few times now) is there should be some form of regular progress report from an OFFICIAL source, once a month is enough otherwise (as we have seen on this board already) fans genuine concern over Ricks health is just turning to anger against Management & to a certain extent Rossi - this should NOT be happening as Ricks health is more important than any gig/tour.

[/p][/quote] The anger for the management is already there, and will never go away. Thankfully, because they deserve it. For the promotion (some of the worst the music industry has ever seen), and the comments from them which have been shameful and downright degrading. The FF being belittled as "an itch that needed to be scratched". On a whole, fans have been treated with contempt. Maybe not the ones who lap everything up like there's no tomorrow (i.e. Mr and Mrs Smith of Dumb Central). But as they are oblivious to every other form of mass media manipulation, their opinions don't count. We know the kind of people Quo deal with, and what goes on in the music industry. We are not stupid. But, yes, I agree with you. Rick's health is the most important thing.

Going to disagree with some of that to a certain extent:
Quo's promotion over the last few years has been very good:
They have had MASSIVE support from Radio 2 - several 'live in concert' broadcasts, Hyde Park gig a couple of years ago and another one coming up, BBC Red Button broadcasts, Quo night on BBC4, they have played Glastonbury, Download & Cropredy, as well as many other festivals across Europe.
They even did last years televised VE Day concert.
QPQ & Aquostic were both top ten albums, Pictures was also pretty damn big for them, the books and DVD's have all sold well. There has been the Live Hear Now deal and many on here have bought the CD's.
Hello Quo did rather well and sold a lot of DVD's.
Granted, there was Bula Quo which to the fans was a bit of a turkey BUT they were still on telly promoting and playing the single.
In addition, there have been the winter tours AND two FF tours, plus live recordings, plus DVD's - I believe it was Francis that said the FF was 'an itch that needed to be scratched' not management.
Keeping a band like Quo who no longer trouble the singles chart and 'credible' TV shows in the public eye is no mean feat, management have done a very good job indeed. They aren't Rihanna, they ain't going to be a special guest on the X Factor.
All that said, I really do think they have dropped a massive bollock in the way they have handled what has happened to Rick.

Not going to go into BBC/Radio 2 territory as it will get this board shut down.
Aquostic would have sold even if they hadn't posed naked, because it was released in the run-up to Xmas. They also weren't promoting it on any shows they aren't usually on.
Hardly anyone watches the National Lottery show nowadays so unlikely it benefited sales. Certainly doesn't when Lulu, Marti Pellow or some other has-been is on.
The itch to be scratched was in the press release for the FF DVD.
On top of all that, the artwork for recent releases has been lazy and uninspiring, i.e. cheap.
What next? They get John Keeling to film the promo for Aquostic II? Oh...

For Aquostic Quo did EXACTLY the same shows (including playing live on the One Show/Ken Bruce/Radio 2 In Concert/and Hyde Park coming up) as Jeff Lynnes ELO did, yet everyone on here applauded them!
Radio 2 is the ONLY National Radio Station that supports the older artists, because of that it is 100% logical for them to do the things they do, how on earth can you have a problem with that?

I don't think there was/is anything wrong with the promo slots. Just the artwork. I don't agree with the manner in which Radio 2 choose which singles Quo release. Let's put it that way. Neither do I think most of their choices have been up to much. Better Than That Movin' On The Winner Looking Out For Caroline Paper Plane (Aquostic) Break The Rules (Aquostic) Terrible. Not one of them caused a spike in album sales. Far better options out there that were commercial enough and would have benefited the band's reputation more. E.g. Dust To Gold, Fiji Time, Nanana, Don't Drive My Car.
