Hello all! I've been in touch with John Eden on his thoughts of an IYCSTH remix. He would love to do it, but it's up to Universal. He also confirmed that Accident Prone was indeed a lot longer than what was released on the album. Questions now are: Does Universal have the tapes, or does Francis have them? How to convince Universal to give it a go? I allways thought that de Deluxe edition in 2016 was poor and should have been done properly. Quoincidence : do you have ways to get in touch with Universal? Hope John Eden will get the chance of doing it, like with RAOTW, and we'll get the full Accident Prone!!

Oh, an interesting one! I've made the thread 'important'. An album thats very divisive amongst fans, as was RAOTW. Of course, it has the best Quo track ever on it, Long Legged Linda, eh vivfromcov?

I’d definitely love to hear a mix with all the extra bells and whistles taken out. Also making the drums sound a bit more natural by taking away the effect they put on them. I do enjoy the album as is, but would relish getting an alternative mix to shed some different light on the tunes.

I thought that the longer version of Accident Prone will be included on the deluxe edition...And again, another missed opportunity.
I would love to see if a remix can be done, take out all the female vocals and all the trumpets.

I'd be very interested in this one. For all the opinion that the production of RAOTW was 'wrong'. In my opinion IYCSTH was 'wronger'. I'd be very interested to hear the songs anew as rock songs as Quo played them in the room rather than the (over) produced versions we ended up with.

Rockin' All Over The World was done simply because the tapes were in Rossi's home archive and it was possibly Bob's idea originally and he will have talked to John about getting the album remixed. Done without Universals knowledge pretty much.
It was originally due for release in 2014, IIRC before being pushed back by a whole year as I remember the artwork leaking at the time.
I'd have to double check, but I think the tapes are in the Universal archives. The only reel I know of in Rossi's archive is a version of Accident Prone without the drum track(s).
Whether it will get remixed or not, I'm not entirely sure. John would have to propose the idea to Universal himself for the costings of the project to be sorted and a budget to be put in place.
This year is a busy year for Universal / Quo releases, and next year could be also if all goes well

I've always wondered how much of a coincidence it was that Damon Lyon-Shaw engineered that great run of classic albums from Quo signing to Vertigo & yet they never sounded the same afterwards, regardless of who they worked with.

All of you missed the pointin telling the world you would like to hear it. Here's how it's done: I would definitely BUY a newly mixed IYCSTH, so John: go ahead. It is a task long overdue; I like quite a lot of songs on it, but the production and the instruments used really let it down. So let's make the music resemble the brilliant artwork and make this one a classic (please.)

I would also be very interested in hearing a remix, although I’m not sure I would like the songs any better..... I hated this album when it came out and it wasn’t just the brass and the girl backing singers. It was the ‘poppy’ nature of some of the songs and the awful self parody of Again and Again. The less said about LLL the better 😎 4th Chord

John E had pushed to get the chance to re-mix Rockin'. Because he had been the engineer with his hands on the original recording and mixing desks, he had a good recall of the original sessions and an understanding of what could be achieved given the opportunity. Pip W wasn't keen on a re-mix. He was very much in the leave things as a moment in time and best left alone and I think Rossi had been very much in that camp as well.
Bob Y has been putting his name to some Quo re-mastering projects but the Rockin' re-mix was very much down to John in the end, due to his understanding of the nuts n' bolts of what would be needed to get everything moving.
A huge undertaking as it turned out in terms of ensuring the integrity of the old tapes and acquiring the right equipment to run the tapes on and more besides.
In a recent interview, Francis has said that he has a lot of stuff at his house. It's all being copied at the moment, into digits (!) Though he doesn't get over excited by such things.
