As John (Eden) was the engineer and having a chat with him and he DOES want to do a remix, I might say he's got a lot to say and wants to show that it could be a better one than the orriginal. If John was not in to doing it, I trust him that it would not benefit to the orriginal. Seeing and hearing what he did to RAOTW, me thinks it would be a hard rocking album in the (remix) end. I, personaly, loved to see the videos of the remix process with the indepth memories, like Rocker's Rollin'and the emotions it brought up to John. Still, we need someone to contact Universal. Even if it takes 2 years to be published. I'm not suggesting he doesn't want to do it but I thought someone said he wasn't going to put the money in? So that's less impetus from him. Apologies if I misunderstood. I understood what your point was, ant. This should be a Universal project and not John's, money wise. But, trust me on this one; he's very eager to start the project, for the sake of just the FF basics, like he mentioned it. And I do understand fans, saying: leave it. But my point is not to disturb the timeline, it's still there and nobody is forced to buy it. For me, WAYW doesn't need a remix as it was Pip's best production for the FF. Same goes for JS and NTL; no need for me It's quite nice to see all the comments, this post created. Thank you all, but let's get this thing to a higher level. Just don't know how, that's why I credited Quoincidence .....

I'll mention it at some point I suppose they could do a whole Re-Launch campaign and restore the promos from the album also, as they still have film reel copies of those Cheers

However, as we discovered with Rockin' All Over The World, there's only so much that can be achieved with the original recordings.

I'd happily buy any remixed Quo album, if only for the novelty. I can't expect the results to be as good as raotw, but it'd be fun. Those fans who want the old albums left alone...wouldn't need to buy them
Of the later albums, HT is crying out for a remix. NTL would be intrigueing.
Don't know what roatw remix sold. Suspect other remixes would sell a similar amount.

dennisReally interesting point about Damon Lyon-Shaw , I've not thought about that before. Like you say, he engineered the best albums. I don't know anything about him. Has he ever been interviewed by a Quo fan? Why did Quo stop using him?

A little bit of once bitten twice shy for John on the financial front as I gather he had been led to believe that the release of the re-mix was going to be seriously promoted by the band etc to a much greater degree than it ultimately received and he had probably hoped for greater returns to balance the books, after all his efforts.
I'm sure he has no regrets though with getting involved with the re-mixing of Rockin' as the joy for him has been in the positive reactions from the fans at ground level though much of the interest has been generated by word of mouth, slowly but surely and his own efforts with youtube etc.
I don't think a re-mix of IYCSTH would be too disrespectful to the band/writers as almost universally the band have slated it at some point, a few years down the line, with the exception of a track or two. The album was considered as another move in the wrong direction by the band and they claim that the 'Whatever You Want' album righted all of IYCSTH's sins. They are probably right there. , I think Pip still rates IYCSTH and from a Producer's perspective I can understand that as for example it was quite a coup at the time to get the respected female vocalists on board and the brass section etc and there will always be fans of any album regardless.
The Rockin' re-mix wasn't just about improving the general sound of the album, far from it, as John wasn't happy with the original mix and wanted to set to work on removing any sections and dubs in particular that had complicated matters and got in the way of proving that the band had been firing on all cylinders as a rock unit at the point of laying down the basic studio tracks.
The mighty Jeff Lynne thought nothing of re-mixing/mastering some of the old ELO albums. Most of which were near perfect to me but he wanted them to sound the way he had always wanted them to sound!

I would like to hear a remix of IYCSTH without all the brass and such...but it's one of very few albums that I would like to hear a remix of...I wouldn't want WYW, JS and especially not NTL remixed cos those albums are fine to me as they are. HT could be interesting to hear a remix of to me

I was simply giving reasons on why the push to remix it might not be as strong as the argument for RAOTW. As I say, I would definitely buy it. And I would pay over the odds and would commit my money up front! Just a shout out to John as well - his videos gave a fantastic view not only into the role of producer and engineer but also the complexity of Quo's music and the ignorance of those who rubbish the band. Bring on the remixed IYCSTH, if it can be swung. And Quoincidence - this and the other place would be the fora (plural of 'forum'?) for Universal to get some idea of the strength of feeling on this project.

I’m not the target audience at all.
Post Alan, I wouldn’t spend a penny on any product by that band. The songs are not for me. Remixing might improve the sonics but the songs are still not very good to me. Maybe if you remove Andy and Rhinos vocal contribution off the albums they may sound better but the songs won’t improve.
So what would be interesting.
If I’m honest I wouldn’t want it changed at all. Why would I want the female vocals or brass removed? Is it Quo’s finest moment ? Well no. However for novelty value it may interest some.
So if it is the novelty value. What would be on interest?
Never too late without the synths and high pitched vocals.
Whatever and Just supposin without the keyboards.
But leave alone. I’d rather buy music by a different artist. Even live stuff from the classic period. With the amount of live stuff now available, what’s the point.

I think the point is the original album is still there and those who only want that version can still listen to it exactly as is, whilst bodyswerving the remix, those that would like to hear the remix have the option to do so. If you dont like the thought of a remix just ignore it even exists. I’m not the target audience at all. Post Alan, I wouldn’t spend a penny on any product by that band. The songs are not for me. Favourite Quo Album: On The Level

Firmly in the no-need-for-a-remix camp here. I wouldn't say that the album has an awful lot of brass and female backing vocals on it at all. Decided to test that theory, and came up with this:
Again & Again: brass only on a 20 second section of the intro I'm Giving Up My Worryin: no brass or backing vocals Gonna Teach You To Love Me: no brass or backing vocals Long Legged Linda - the main culprit: brass on the intro, choruses, instrumental breaks, and bridge to the last chorus. backing vocals on all choruses and the outro Oh What A Night: backing vocals on the choruses Accident Prone: no brass or backing vocals Stones: backing vocals on the choruses Let Me Fly: brass on the second and third choruses and outro Like A Good Girl: brass on choruses and outro
There's actually hell of a lot of keyboard all over the album, filling out a lot of the sound, something which i don't think has been mentioned in this thread. But i find the brass and female vocals very minimal mostly, and not worthy of taking the album apart for. 3 songs have none of either, and a fourth with just a small passage.
Nothing really intrusive to my ears, except maybe the high pitched vocals and the end of Long Legged Linda and Oh What A Night.
I think the production is great, not a Quo production as such, but it's beefy and full and i think that's a lot to do with the sound of the guitars and drums, rather than the addition of brass. The keyboards, as mentioned, fill out a lot too and this was quite a bit before Andy's keys became the horrible fairground synthy pretend-brass sounds etc. Pretty sure he's still using a Hammond organ at this point.
Yeah, i just think it doesn't justify a remix. There are no technical sound problems here, and it's not really worth spending the time and money just to take a few things out....of Long Legged Linda, for the most part.

Just listened to it again in a different way: what if this and that was left out etc... Bass and drums are way up in the mix as are Rossi's solo's. What I do miss is the Pounding rhythm of Rick. I would realy, realy like John Eden to show how the songs were build up, as he so Franticly did on the RAOTW project. Personaly, I think he would make it a better album, just for the dedication as he's shown on the Rocker's rollin'remix video.
FROM 26:38 it's historic
