Sad He was one of the best! I went out and bought a guitar purely because of his solo on Michael Jackson's Beat It, to try and replicate it. He was insanely brilliant

I've a guitar with 57 pups. Sounds about right to me but, as the post above said, you ain't ever gonna get it 100% spot on. Different styles, touch, EQ, amps, even leads make a hell of a difference. Put yourself into it and just have a shit load of fun

The whole Lancaster "Rock" thing has always puzzled me, how can a bloke who co-wrote or wrote A Year, Lonely Man, All The Reasons, Ease Your Mind and Blue For You be painted as being stuck into some sort of hard rock groove. To the average punter, maybe:
They don't look closely at the writing credits on the album sleeves All the songs he did live were out and out rockers
Moustache/leather jacket/bare chest combo (non-ironic) His live singing voice is much gruffer than his studio singing voice Projected a kind of tough, serious image on stage
Put that combo together and you get a total stereotype! IMO.
That's what Quo were though, in a live setting! That's who Alan was too. You dont have to dress in velvet to show your emotions or to show you have a softer side. John McVie is a perfect example. Even when Francis tried to change them in the late 80s and they were wearing those suits in photo shoots, with the Spandau Ballet hair. On stage however, Rossi and Parfitt still acted and dressed like the stereotypical rocker Not something I'd personally read much into tbh The lyrics you write are a true indicator as to who you are as a person. It's why I personally believe a lot of what went on with certain artists and why I dont believe some other stuff about others

For me it's 'The Wild Ones' by a country mile! G Francis tbf turned that into what it was though

Who doesn't picture Lancaster huddled against the cold and rain as he stumbles along Backwater Junction in the dark early morning. The whole Lancaster "Rock" thing has always puzzled me, how can a bloke who co-wrote or wrote A Year, Lonely Man, All The Reasons, Ease Your Mind and Blue For You be painted as being stuck into some sort of hard rock groove. Because it's not true. Read between the lines. He loved Dylan and ABBA, he cites RAOTW as one of his favourite tracks. Francis fully admits that Alan played a perfect bass line for MT, without any direction. Alan had no problem playing on or writing the softer, more "thoughtful" songs...It was the middle of the road, housewives stuff he did not want to do and the sorta stuff that even the most pro Francis fan would say is muck

Doesn't matter what you ask him.
In his own words, "It's showbiz. It's bullshit, you'll never get the truth!"

Alan may possibly rub some up the wrong way and yeah sure, he may come across as bitter... But, you try and let go of the pain and anger, of starting and building something up so big, that means so much to you and then all of a sudden you're shafted out of it by people you think who are your friends...It's difficult!
I've been shafted before. Not on that scale but, by a person who meant everything to me. They were my everything and they shafted me and lied to me and about me. Almost a decade ago and I'm still not over the anger and hurt that caused me. Quite possibly never will. I can only imagine how Alan feels. Also, don't forget, Alan's and everyone's upbringing plays a major part in your make up in the person you become.
As for Rick, the reunions had nothing to do with his death. It would have happened anyway

Teleboogie, writing that long winded post, offering his wife to Rhino was a bit out there to say the least. The first night of the FF reunion gigs in Manchester in 2013, I remember a clip of BBJ was posted that was at the very end and was 10 seconds long. A lot of CQ fans were jumping on it, saying how shite it was. Mods locking threads, throwing bans out left, right and centre, Quozone making an appearance now and again to wind people up. Good times I remember the BQ reaction. Thought it was justified tbh from a fan point of view. You go from QPQ, HQ, the FF reunion tour to that and that awful movie? Along with a stale setlist at live gigs, with Matt fucking off under a cloud? Can understand the reaction. The abuse for Rhino? Uncalled for and OTT

Doing a Facebook Live "gig" on Saturday at about half 7 or 8 Nothing fancy, just myself, my guitar, my voice and my phone. No microphones or big set ups. Just doing it for fun and hopefully it entertains anyone who watches, in some way shape or form. If it's good, great and if it's shit, oh well www.facebook.com/brian.clarke.526That's my page if anyone wants to add me and have a look. Will do a Quo tune Let me know when you're doing one next and I'll stick it on the 'important threads' banner so we don't miss it. Ah cheers! It's nowt important or major. I don't even have a microphone. Just thought people might like a distraction over a beer or two
