After watching that Sky clip, I would say Rick is the one person in the band who hasn't let fans down. He is what Quo has all been about. He shouldn't of lived a less rock n roll life style in the past, just so he can keep going in Quo longer. His own life is more important and true fans know that. So we all wish Rick the best in future, in whatever he does. No excuses needed.

Well one thing is certain about Rossi. The legacy he leaves behind is truly fucked.

Firstly All the best to Rick, clearly a more serious matter than what we knew about. But, management have been stringing people along to this tour. That's me done with all things Quo, would be tempted to even come off this board to erase the band from my life. Interestingly I spoke to the consumer council just yesterday and they advised me to write to ticket master stating that I want a refund, and also to write the same letter to the credit card company, stating that I have not been provided with the goods that I had purchased and therefore to refund me the money, I will be doing this over the weekend. Truly sorry for Rick and his well being. But quo management and Rossi have a lot to answer for in terms of carrying on this tour without him. Hi All, DQ, If you want a refund why not try your bank for an indemnity claim or your own house insurance legal team (If you opted for their service) I was ripped off for goods not received and the cost of raising a legal letter with taking the individual to court was to great so they coughed up the money...
I will admit though I was irate at the guy and in my mind he as got away with it scot free. It's because of turds like him that insurance fees go up as far as I am concerned it's fraud, but you try telling that to your bank or Paypal they seem to have a very different idea as to what fraud actually means....

Hi All, Davy, Just a thought was there any indication as to when this statement was released ? I watched the sky interview about 07.00 waiting for it to re-air after just catching the arse end of it about an hour before. A very open and frank interview with Rick showing exactly how down to earth he is and has taken the Dr's advice mixed in with his black humour about dying but none the less after all the speculation a bit of a shock for the many fans.
So I am assuming the statement was released after the sky interview was first aired earlier today by 'Simon Porter' allowing people to view the interveiw with it being in 'Ricks' own words before 'Porters' release.
The main thing is as many on here have already stated is Ricks health and wishing well in his recovery...

Just looked on the Sky News app and the report, which includes the interview, is time-stamped 8.55AM this morning, Thursday 15th. EDIT: just re-read your post Geoff and realised you saw it a couple of hours earlier so this post doesn't really answer your question, doh!

Hi All, Q, That sky news interview was stated as 'Status Quit' in the running bar, a little bit naughty instead of relating to the actual story. I did like the interview though as mentioned in other posts frank and open very grounded with a little black humour thrown in..

One thing the DM article says is that Rick is earning £600 a month from his pension so is under some pressure to return to some kind of work. Would he earn from the tour even if not there via royalties etc. If so I can understand why he would want it to continue. Hi All, LF, Do you think that's the interest their talking about ? I mean £150 p/wk a bit pitiful as a wage this day and age!......

FTMO put out the statement on Twitter and Facebook at midnight UK time (Thursday 15th September 2016 at 00:00). It would seem that the news outlets already had the statement and there was an embargo on reporting the story until this time. Edit:

To all of us Quo fans that have supported this magnificent, legendary band for decades, this news is very sad. It is I think the end of the road for any Frantic Four get together again. To those people that have bought tickets for the Last Of The Electrics tour (I did not) I personally think a refund option should be made available as Rick and Francis are the face of the band. AC/DC did the same thing this year, some people cashed in, I did not and thoroughly enjoyed Axl Rose on vocals. Maybe people will like the Rick replacement, best of luck with that. All I can say is, get well soon Rick, I loved you mate!

Well spotted Geoff 1batfastard . I missed that. And yes, rather cheeky too, considering. And further to Simon Julou's post, it was posted on Quo's official fb page around 12.30am today, 15th Sept. And fans on there picked it up and alerted us on here.

Hi All, Well after the initial post from master of ceremonies the big D, the thread has blossomed into a very eclectic lot of posts ranging from interest about the statement with a mix of lambasting of the Quo management, to some forumites with their memories along with wishing that Rick recovers as quickly as possible from this most unfortunate set of circumstances along with his nearest and dearest find themselves in. Let's not forget this is as traumatic for his immediate family as it is for himself and they should be left alone to speak when the time is ready like Rick did hen interviewed by sky.
I must admit that although what some have said regarding the management whether true or not has let the thread down we all really should have just wished Rick well and to concentrate on his and his family as he is now recovering. Having said this I have liked a couple of the management posts as just like all you out there it brings up some ill feeling with strong emotion tied to that so I can understand where those posts come from THE HEART! I am as guilty as anyone for this departure from the topic which Davy started.
Personally as it goes I have followed Quo since school and freely admit that as far as their history goes I know a little and have never claimed to know more, I don't know many of the words to their music just some that are my ear worms. I was introduced to them by an old school friend and have never looked back. My first Quo studio album was a S/H copy of BFY a few of months after it came out, it was the first studio album bought with my own money and would have to say my favourite album.
In all the time I have listened to Quo it's the FF that are my Quo being honest, that popeyed arm of Rick's giving Quo's music the rhythm that we have all loved no matter how long you have followed them. I thought that the time had long past I would ever see the FF together but Wolverhampton Civic Hall March 13th 2013 will stay with me more than any other memory of the band. In all that time between buying that 1st studio album up until I actually lived my fantasy I can't remember anything bad coming out about Rick just the odd life road hiccup story that affects everyone now and then from all walks of life.
Life is a classroom as far as I am concerned you can always learn as you travel the road that is your life, and along the way some of that learning is heart breaking. I would think the possibility of the rhythm master not being in the band is definitely one them which is why to many this news is so devastating it has affected me just as much as the original break in the 80's and it will be a sad day indeed for myself and many Quo fans of all incarnations if this is to be the end of Ricks involvement with Quo.
All I can is is to say many thanks for being such a big part of life and to get well soon along with concentrate on yourself and family for a change forget everything else guitars, music etc.etc.etc. it will still be waiting when you are ready to return if indeed you do as I and I dare so all Quo fans would be happy you just living a happy life with your family.
Thank you for my memories Rick just make sure you keep yours..... quorp
Geoff.

Not sure why you are saying I'm wrong here (and not wishing to be pedantic) but it was definately posted by FTMO at exactly midnight (00:00). Using Facebook (on a PC/Desktop) you can find out the exact time a post was made by hovering over where it says how long ago that post was made. You can also see the time on the Tweet I was sad enough to be sitting in front of my computer (with TweetDeck open on one monitor) at midnight and saw the tweet appear (I believe FTMO have their Facebook and Twitter accounts linked). Scarily all the tweet says is "Status Quo regret to announce that guitarist Rick Parfitt..." I feared the worst seeing that.

I'm sorry Simon Julou. I am not saying that you are wrong. I am merely adding that when I was online last night, and 2 members had started threads on the news, I went onto Quo's fb page and noted the time of their official post. I am not a member of ftmo and nor do I read their page. It might well have been midnight, that Quo also posted. I hope that clears this up.

I just like to get the facts right as there has been so much speculation about everything. I'm glad that Rick did the interview with Sky News as I can only imagine what some people might be speculating with just the press statement alone

Watching the sky interview it struck me how much Ricks character and outlook was central to Quo and what Status Quo stood for as a band. Honest, straight down the line and no BS.
He acknowledges that living the rock and roll life style has it consequences and price to pay and he is, he said, paying the price now. What shines through however is his dignity, true ethic, humanity and humour. He is what Quo was.
Absolutely loved his dark humour and insights when talking about being 'dead' and 'coming back from the dead':
"if anybody is thinking about it. Then nothing happens...it all goes black.'
Now we all know. No pearly gates and St.Peter.
He has answered thousands of years of debate on religion and the afterlife!
