Jesus Christ, there really are some weird people over on the other place.
"No refunds should be given. Everyone should be happy" "I'm disappointed in Rick for saying it's not Quo without him" "Absolutely no reason to stop" "Show must go on" "Francis is doing this for his mate, so he can earn royalties"
Bizarre.

'Cognitive impairments'... that's worrying And to all those who kept questioning why there were no health updates or word from Rick during the summer and everyone questioning the integrity and silence of the rest of the band and management - what the hell do you think "cognitive impairment" means? Do you think it would have helped his recovery in any way to have had the internet buzzing over his mental capacity? There are reasons for medical confidentiality. Such a major heart attack followed by resuscitation always bears the risk of other functions being affected. Modern medicine is wonderful but don't be fooled by films and TV showing miraculous outcomes with no after effects after the deployment of crash teams in hospital. Rick and the band have spoken out as soon as they were able. I hope he continues to improve and has many more years left to enjoy his young children growing up and the appreciation of his lifelong fans even if he is no longer gigging. To be honest, why not say this earlier. Instead of continuing to sell tickets that THEY knew he would never take part in. I highly doubt Ricks recovery is affected by comments on the Internet. This could have been avoided. They could have said earlier Rick wouldn't tour. And they could have said Rick will comment when he is well enough.

At least Rick has not ended up like Brian Connelly of Sweet. He looked terrible in his final years due to the heart attacks he suffered.

When a brain is deprived of oxygen nobody can predict the outcome, whether memory loss is permanent or will gradually recover or whether the person will ever be the same as before. The only course is to wait and see whilst supporting the patient with all possible ancillary treatments. They continued the summer tour hoping he could return. They did not KNOW that he would not. As for comments on the internet, Rick has a family that would have borne the brunt. In my opinion reticence was the only course of action until Rick himself could speak. In fact I have been impressed by the whole Quo enterprise in that so little tittle-tattle has emerged over the summer.

Similar to when a football manager has had to stand down. Thats what Rick says. This would have been known quite quickly especially when you consider how close it was to the Autumn dates. You make an assumption about the Summer dates but you don't know that. I think it's much more likely they did know.

Exactly. After a period of trauma, many patients can become aggressive, uncooperative or confused. Arguments in hospital should not be reported by third parties.

Today isn't a day to comment on management, Francis and handling of the tours, the SQ name in respect of Ricks absence. So we come back and do all that tomorrow!

What about Rick and Simon arguing in the hospital? They kept that quiet. Exactly. After a period of trauma, many patients can become aggressive, uncooperative or confused. Arguments in hospital should not be reported by third parties. But they are, and in Rick's case, it was. Given what we now know about Rick's condition, no-one can ever claim Simon Porter to be "a nice guy" anymore, particularly when he went into a hospital knowing fine well the condition of a person, then preceded to have a heated argument with the said individual. That is low. Very low. Well below any of his deplorable gimmicks and promo stunts.
