I don't get it, why can't you just write the full song titles? No one can't be that lazy!? I bet you wish you were big. Can't believe you've been a fan since '88 the way you post. You didn't answer my question! And I'm just qurious, what do you mean by the way I post? Do you think my opinion doesn't count as much as yours because you have been a fan longer than me, or is it simply because I didn't like the FF reunion and simply like the "current" lineup more as a live band? ..I have no idea who that was in the video you posted, I don't know if I was supposed to though..

YCR = You'll Come Round. TOY = Thinking Of You. That's how people post on here. Get used to it. You've been a fan way longer than I have and are older than me, but trying to explain things to you is like talking to a four year old. I sense you are quite naive, and in terms of your opinion not counting as much, well ...NO... I don't think it does. Anyone who thinks the way Quo promote themselves is OK and doesn't understand what Quo are about isn't worth bothering about.

deepthroat:
As I see it, I have have only given you my opinions. I just went through the 3 pages in this topic and you haven't tried to explain anything to me as you say. I tried to get a meaningful nice conversation with you when I agreed with you about "Current Quo" not playing post '86 material. I even listed some examples of songs they could/should play but you totally ignored that and just kept on bugging me.
I have written some of my thoughts, written what I feel about the band, I even explained why I like the "current" line up more than the FF while all I can see you have contributed is being snarky towards me and others including saying that some fans shouldn't be taken seriously because they don't agree with you or hate the way QUO is being promoted..

As you know I agree with you about the criticisms of promotion with the band. But I think this post to since88 comes across more as a dismissive personal attack more than making a point I don't think there is a need to be rude to him personally, even if you are frustrated that you don't think he is getting the point that you are making
His opinion is perfectly valid as much as other members, whether there are elements of it that you, I or anyone else might see quite differently
There are occasions where I don't always straightaway get some of the abbreviated songs, however much I think I am familiar with them - so I don't think there is any need to be unkind to him there either

I had to ask the same question five times before you gave an answer. And even then you said "I can't answer that". You can and you did. I never said anything about Quo playing post-86 material. That was catlady. Which is why I never replied. I don't care if fans don't agree with me. That's not why I think they shouldn't be taken seriously. It's their love/apathy shown towards the promotion that is.

Deepthroat: Okay well, let's end it here,. Catlady: go back to page two and read my post about the "newer" songs they could throw into the set! Wouldn't you love a set like that, spiced off with the older hits among them! I mean, imagine them close a set with I Don't Remember Anymore/Bye Bye Johnny instead of Rock'n'Roll Music/Bye Bye Johnny.. That little change would make so many fans happier! I would love to hear opinions about that

I would love to hear opinions about that Some of those you listed I certainly would have enjoyed Live We all have our own favourite songs and little set lists that we could suggest - but it is the principle of change that is important here and which we agree on that is more important.
Sadly, this is a case of stable gates and bolted horses now though. As much as we might wish it would happen, it has never happened before, and clearly isn't going to now. This final 'electric tour' is surely the same old, right to the finish.

It's just occurred to me that this tour is the perfect opportunity for them to play whatever they want to play.
If one of the reasons they stick to the same old same old is to not scare off the punters to ensure they get returning bums on seats the following year, then they can now throw caution to the wind and play what they want to play.
I've got high hopes for 4500 Times making a return, and also Don't Waste My Time.

I dunno about Blackpool - I reckon they'll still be trying to sell Accept No Substitute 2015/16 merchandise until the Autumn, and so I'm expecting the same old set, but you never know...

I agree as you know with the principle here, but I can't see it happening. The band and management won't see it as an opportunity to play with a free spirit. Simply a last chance to do what they always do with the usual set.
In an ideal world I much rather see an FF gig play 4500X and Don't Waste My Time (and CQ concentrate on playing their own catalogue)
But its not going to happen

Since it is their final tour, they might make the set a little bit LONGER and add som post '86 songs to the set! You never know, many bands have done that on their farewell tours. Making the set longer and adding som deep cuts for the hardcore fans! Since it will be filmed and surely there will be a live album from it, I really really hope they do that!

I am eternally optimistic when it comes to imagining what Quo might play on a new tour.
And I am usually disappointed but it still doesn't stop me from grasping at straws for any kind of excuse for them to change the, ahem, status quo.
Pictures set list 2008. Rossi's solo tour. FF setlist.
This shows they can do it if they want to.
If they go out and play the same set as Accept No Substitute, I'm going to have to adjust my perception, because I don't want to wave them farewell with disappointment in the pit of my stomach. Perhaps the term 'accept no substitute' was actually referring to the setlist?!

Francis says in the recent Guitar & Bass interview that he is happy that some of the material from the band's latter years is on the Accept No Substitute CDs. So I'd be grateful if Quo played some of their more recent material (what is 'recent' seen in a 50-year-time span?) on their final electric tour. Now that would be something.
