I just think they're having fun, they're not rockstars with a dirty attitude, they're old men with a sense of humor. At the end of the day they don't do anything they don't want to do.

Bula Quo for one. Your idea of rock is misconceived. It's not about ripping people's heads off. Far from it. Let's say Quo had released DTG or TT as a single. Do you think it would have been appropriate given the tone of the songs that the promo video was full of the band laughing and fannying about?

Well, to me it looks like they're just having fun. They don't take themselves so seriously and I like that. I've always like that about them. You guys here on the boards have been wondering why so many people keep coming back year after year and that's a big reason why! Their humor and happy carefree attitude rubs off on everyone and creating a big party where everyone's rocking out and feeling good about it, going home with a smile on their faces.
At least how I perceive it!

At least how I perceive it! They may well get people coming back because of their onstage antics, but it is an undeniable fact that Bula Quo was a flop, ISOTFC got nowhere despite the tongue-in-cheek title, and Aquostic would have been a hit regardless of the front cover. Humour is not everything Quo are about and nor should it be pushed that way in the marketing. So... Let's say Quo had released DTG or TT as a single. Do you think it would have been appropriate given the tone of the songs that the promo video was full of the band laughing and fannying about?

ISOTFC may have had a tongue in cheek title but it had music on it that could/should have been chosen for the live stage. Aside, that is, from the single(BOTE) and what I think is the worst song on the album (Gravy Train) and which didn't last long anyway
Same story of the wastage of so many other albums with material of good quality on them
Yes, Quo have always had a trademark humour about them - Francis and Rick have typified this since the early days. However, the larking around has increasingly taken more and more precedence through the years to the point where jokes and gimmicks, throughout the band, come ahead of the music and its far too much in the face.
Less is more comes to mind

I do agree with you about them "never playing" newer material. It's like they think Heavy Traffic was their last great album. Well yeah, they play Beginning Of The End. They have so much great songs that they don't care about, he'll. Just make a medley or something. Some songs that comes to mind directly is I Don't Remember Any More from Heavy Traffic! Imagine that one in a live set! Or my personal favorite from the last "real" album: Movin' On from Quid Pro Quo. I would love to see them live!
Goin' Nowhere I Didn't Mean It Making Waves The Way It Goes The Party Ain't Over Yet Blessed Are The Meek My Little Heartbreaker Two Way Traffic Frozen Hero Better Than That..
This is just some songs of the top of my head but they have SO MANY great songs to choose from, while I love The Oriental and Beginning Of The End, they could easily swap theses for some of these songs. Hell, I'd be fine swapping Rain for any of these songs!
At the end of the shows, they could take out Rock'n'Roll Music and play I Don't Remember Any More instead, the casuals wouldn't mind, it's the same rocking tempo, the same energy, but they would make so many fans happy by that one simple trade!

Still no answer to my question, since88.
Third time of asking... Let's say Quo had released DTG or TT as a single. Do you think it would have been appropriate given the tone of the songs that the promo video was full of the band laughing and fannying about?

If you had written the actual names of the songs from the beginning, I had already gave you an answer for it

And what promo are you talking about? At first I thought it was the Quid Pro Quo promo, but now I'm not so sure anymore since it's two different albums..

Well, you make your promo to fit the message you want to send out. If they had released Dust To Gold as a lead single, then the promo video would have been different. If they have had released Tongue Tied as the lead single for the Fourth Chord album, then that promo would have been made to fit that. I don't think the promo video would have been the way they were if they had released those songs as lead singles. But, hey it's QUO, you never know

I'm not asking whether you think the video would be different or not. I'm asking, for the FIFTH time, Would it have been appropriate given the tone of the songs that the promo video was full of the band laughing and fannying about?

I CAN'T answer that, because something like that would NEVER be released.
