I CAN'T answer that, because something like that would NEVER be released. What wouldn't be released? A single like DTG or TT? WRONG. The band have released LOAI, ITAN, Restless, have they not? A video full of the band laughing and fannying about? WRONG AGAIN. You haven't seem many promo videos, have you?

Says a lot that StusQo lad was allowed post galore on the old message board, with Gert liking a lot of his posts, but on here, he's seen as an idiot by a lot of people....
Wonder who it is

Exactly! I've loved QUO since I was like 3, there's a video of when I'm singing rocking all over the world with a hockey stick as a guitar as a 3/4year old. I have always listened to them, I have always loved the music and the band. But the thing is, I am born 1988, this lineup has been around longer than I've been living. All my life, when I saw tv specials and such with QUO it was THIS lineup, therefore it's THIS lineup I've grown to love. I can't see how some people referring them to "Current" QUO when the've been around for 30 YEARS!! It's way longer than Alan or John ever was. And for your argument they're not playing their own songs, yes they do. The songs you are referring to are Francis & Ricks songs. As an example, Caroline is as little Alan's or John's song as it is Rhino's. It's Rossi's. You was born in the wrong era,60s quo to 70s quo, gave birth to cq, take away either 60s or 70s, and no quo at all ?

The discussion has become rather circular in nature
I think the fact that songs like DTG etc would indeed not be released in the scenario attempted to be presented several times by deepthroat, does in fact rather illustrate the point that repeatedly is being tried to be made in these posts.
Its because the promotion of CQ is so geared towards being, dare I use the happy clappy term and good for a laugh, as priority, that any song that is played with a bit of artistic rock flair, will be deemed too deep and 'album tracky' and probably not quite the attuned tempo and vibe for party goers to bop to as they can much more familiarly with the likes of RAOTW
As we are often reminded, the priority is for the set to flow to accommodate the routine of stage patterns including tag games, laughing and smiling exchanges, plus the general jokes and stage show entertainment in the right places
Anything 'obscure' and album tracky will be deemed as spoiling the symmetry of the show, and why so much of the quality back catalogue album songs never see the light of day

Laugh a millisecond in that one. Disgusting. I don't think the families of soldiers who were sent home in body bags found it funny. I think there's some truth to the theory that Quo won't release ballads or deep songs as singles because they don't want to appear serious. The promos for YCR and TOY are perfect examples of how Quo should be promoted. No nonsense whatsoever.

I don't get it, why can't you just write the full song titles? No one can't be that lazy!?

The FF reunions didn't get me excited at all.. Too slow, no energy, Coghlan ain't got it no more.. Here's an example: same song, same year, different rhythm section! CQ (as you guys seems to call them, I call them QUO!) have way more energy, it's a shame that Matt left though.. My GOD , you haven't got a clue have you !

You say Coghlan ain't got it no more, i'll say he still does. There is nothing that can compete with the magic the ff had imo

Putting aside the subjectivity of liking or disliking individual songs and albums, CQ's own brand of rock and pop is, overall, good in my opinion. The problem is that they have got the balance completely wrong with far too many songs copied from the original band at the detriment of most of their own better material. This lends itself to the direct comparisons as we see here with the Down Down clip.
This illustration barely scratches the surface - there are so many more.
Another recent glaring one was introducing Blue Eyed Lady and Oh Baby into the CQ set after the FF reunion. This took the problem onto another level and was bound to lead to comparison problems, and also to let downs. Why on earth didn't they get any inspiration to deal with their set by bringing in high quality CQ songs of their own instead?
This type of frustration is exactly one of the thing that drives my own criticism of the current band and leads to so much disappointment with them. That has been further compounded by the continuing obsession of gimmicks and superficial capers, and the totally ham-fisted and very underwhelming handling of this final 'electric' tour.
Lets have the FF to put the full history of Status Quo into a much better perspective and provide the type of final flourish so many of us wish for

Yep. Couldn't agree more. I have wondered for years why the heck they never used the better CQ songs.
