I would have loved the studio / album version to be used as the opening song live .

Studio version easily the best version. For me there are certain classics that they have never managed to get across live IMO. Still great but not quite there. Mystery Song is one and the other for me is Paper Plane. Blue eyed Lady 2013 ?? Nice try though !

I think the version from the NEC gig in 1989 is brilliant...Or would have been brilliant if it went on longer.
It's pretty much the same tempo as the record, lots of energy, Rick's voice is spot on.
Very lazy not to do a full version...The last line up with Rick done a longer version and Francis wasn't arsed playing the solo so, that was a bit shit

I only remember it being played live as the opening section of the EOTR medley, a shame as it's one of my most favouritist tracks.

Although it's great live, I'd add Little Lady as its just awesome on OTL As for paper plane I think the old line up used to nail it in the early days Yeah MS,sybil, WSOL and LOAI all done very lazily live

There is vocal dubbing on it though.

It's a bit like Down Down live, they can't capture that special guitar tone.
Also with MS, Coghlan's prominent crash cymbal work and pummelling, fluid drumming couldn't possibly be recreated by anyone else. Alan's cazy bass line in MS song too - all very key ingredients. I can see why they tried - popular with the fans - but i wish they hadn't bothered as they couldn't do it justice at all. There's a dense sound to MS - the live version is much simplified and much stripped down.
DD and PP - also failed to capture the 'groove' of the recorded originals. But hey, i'm sure they sounded fantastic if you were there, and nobody was caring about how they compared! I don't really listen to live Quo gigs much, except for the FF.
