It's a bit like Down Down live, they can't capture that special guitar tone. Also with MS, Coghlan's prominent crash cymbal work and pummelling, fluid drumming couldn't possibly be recreated by anyone else. Alan's cazy bass line in MS song too - all very key ingredients. I can see why they tried - popular with the fans - but i wish they hadn't bothered as they couldn't do it justice at all. There's a dense sound to MS - the live version is much simplified and much stripped down. DD and PP - also failed to capture the 'groove' of the recorded originals. But hey, i'm sure they sounded fantastic if you were there, and nobody was caring about how they compared! I don't really listen to live Quo gigs much, except for the FF. Down Down sounds amazing on download fest 2014 imo. I also love the way Francis sings the verses “I want all the world to see-hee-hee”. Bummer he stopped that

www.youtube.com/playlist?list=RDV8VoUKIEQTc&feature=share&playnext=1Hope this link works. First attempt. This is the other end of the spectrum where they nail a song live. Roadhouse Blues. I know it’s an early version but this performance covers exactly the blues essence of the song. From Bob interacting on harp with the rhythm throughout. Alan not trying to harshly with the vocal makes it sound so much better. The slightly slowed down performance gives it that swing. Finally Roy’s keyboards are absolutely first class and help nail this performance. I actually prefer it to the version that made Piledriver. It may sound to primitive to some ears but to me this is the essence of the FF !

Roy's keyboards more or less mimic The Doors' original. Great stuff

Although it's great live, I'd add Little Lady as its just awesome on OTL As for paper plane I think the old line up used to nail it in the early days Yeah MS,sybil, WSOL and LOAI all done very lazily liveI hate it when people write song names like this. I have no idea what you’re talking about Guessing you don't know who SQ are then?

No it's not... just makes replying quicker it's not hard to guess that SBYBIL = Something 'bout You Baby I Like, or LOAI = Living On An Island. It's only like abbreviating album titles.

I found it confusing at first too, when I started reading the forums. I know all the Quo songs very well, but, even then, sometimes it was hard to guess which one it was, especially without any context.

Album titled is different, because there's only(!) 33 to chose from, but I mean there's like 400 songs. But thank you, what about the other songs? MS, and WSOL. I know that I really should get MS since it's only two words but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Something bout you baby is like my favorite live song they do and I really can't understand how someone could say that they do it lazy. But yeah. Each to their own and all that
