After BFY the albums changed in style but we're great anyway. Up to NTL you can still recognise descent quo songs and great musicality even if production changed. From 1982 it was different again. The music totally lost the Quo soul in it. So my vote goes for NTL. I still enjoy it very much and consider JS/NTL as better albums than WYW/IYCSTH.

Thought I would look and see how quickly the tour was selling out, sad I know...how surprised was I to see that the last ever night of a quo tour was being sold in half a hall... Now for the Freddie's among you, just to let you know that the ff final tour in Dublin was in a full hall.. seriously half a hall on the last night...wtf does that tell you THEIR A NOVALTY BAND . Yes Rick & Francis are awesome on the guitar , but the majority of people { I almost said fans } who'll attend wouldn't have a clue what they where listening to if they heard JTM/Railroad/Mystery song/Slow train etc . I doubt lots would even notice who's playing drums . The crowds who attended the STATUS QUO gigs 13-14 knew what to expect .
I think you are right about this.

If you really listen to the drum sound you realise it is very dynamic. It can be loud then changes to be more silent. It is a part of the other dynamic instruments and song. It lives along with the others. Not just a steady beat that adds drumsound.
I really love the energy and dynamic feel. I am no musician so I guess someone can describe this in more musical terms.

John Coghlan means a lot to the sound. He is brilliant.

I must say tat Too far gone is the song that surprisingly has grown big in the JE remix. This version by Godslave made me see the qualities in it. Love the Quo version even more now.

Definitely for me. But the song Rockin' all over the world is awful. Can't stand the piano.

I listened to a lot of music on the radio in the 70:s and also Sweet, Kiss and Slade. One of my friends had the Piledriver album and also the Just supposin'album. I liked both albums a lot and at the time I did not realise how different they were. After that there came NTL, bought IYCSTH. Started to collect the albums I didn't have. Got Quo, RAOTW,Hello and later all the rest 70s albums. As you see I did not listen to the albums in the order they were released. I could not see the way Quo changed from sweaty boogie band(Piledriver) to well produced studio albums (JS and NTL). I did not have the chance to see Quo live. I was only 15 when NTL were released. But I was a member of Swedish fan club. Lots of badges on my clothes, posters on the wall and almost every day listen to at least one of the records.
Then came the 1982 album which I bought the same week it was released. Shocking horrible album. So different from all the others. Got ashamed of being a Quo fan. But everybody can have a bad day. Next album must be so much better. And then came Back to Back.
Totally lost interest now. Bought ITAN but then totally lost interest in Quo.
Rediscovered them with ISOTFC. Listened to this album quite a lot.
And of course the reunion. Even if I did not see them live I followed the tours and bought many of the releases from the gigs.

I really like this song. For me it is simple. Likes most of the Quo songs with JC on drums.
