For me yes. When this album was released way back then, for me it pulled the rug away from all the build up of previous albums due to its tinny sound,no bass, screechy keyboards and even the cheap album(and font) cover. Massive disappointment. Forward to the remix...and WOW..this album is a sensation imo. I put it up there with Piledriver on to BFY. I love it loud.

for me the golden era (and the glory years) are everything from Dog to NTL. OK the period upto BFY is widely regarded as the best, but it's not a competition! Taken as a whole (live band and studio band), SQ 70-81 remain the greatest band of all time!
so in answer to the question...yes!

For me, there was a tailing off from On The Level onwards.
But RAOTW was still a major shock and, along with IYCSTH, are way below standard.

BFY was the pinnacle of Quo's albums. All the other stuff after 76 was a slow decline in their recording career...1982 and BTB are really dreadful.I wonder if the Rossi/Lancaster rift was a blessing in disguise for the fans. How bad could it have got going on like that?

I can't make a useful reply as I as not myself in the "golden era" so I can't experience it from that POV. But railroad17's statement stands ... whatever happened, something had run out of the tank and it started long before 1983.

I remember buying it , rushing home , and feeling as if someone had just kicked my teeth in when I heard it , especially expecting a few tracks like Little lady / mystery song / BFM / Backwater / and even a nice MOTT sort of track etc ,,, NONE not ONE . Its as if they'd lost the plot .

The one track that can be described as a Quo classic is Hold You Back. This one song alone just about saves this album. I also like Cant Give You More as well.

The remix is superb imo had that been the version released back then i reckon it wouldnt have got all the critisism it did/does.Theres some really good songs on it which have been given a right boot up the arse production wise so its a yes from me.

Of course it does. It doesn't mean that the album has to be good though.

OK now with clear head, I still back what I said but I guess I was trying to say that the remixed RAOTW album is right up there in the FF golden era. Now, QUO imo is the best album of this era closely followed by OTL but if BFY is part of that 'golden era' then this remixed RAOTW,with all of its oomph back, sits quite comfortably alongside BFY. Yes BFY is a great album but it does have a few weak links such as Mad About The Boy,Rolling Home, and Ease Your mind. RAOTW has a couple as well but quite a few gems such as Hold You Back, Rockers Rolling,Can't Give You more,Let's Ride,Too Far Gone,You Don't Own Me and Hard Time. For me the standouts on BFY are Is There A Better Way, Ring Of A Change and the mighty Mystery Song. Now cast your mind way back to when RAOTW was released and if they just kept the magic going by releasing RAOTW with a quality gatefold album cover with the same Satus Quo font and the album SOUNDING as good as this remix version, instead of the pissweak album cover and tinny sound with way over the top screechy keyboards, then I reckon it wouldve been right up there......imo.
