I found this old thread about the song when trying to refresh my memories: statusquo.boards.net/thread/13777/hello-love-1969So that's another 1966 recording, but never properly released. I also noticed that "José" is still being called "Josie" - I made a point of writing it properly in all my spreadsheets

The title kinda promises a bit more - you've got The Beach Boys and Steely Dan both making absolute milestones with the same name, this track obviously can't measure up. But in the context of HT, I think it works well.

Also worth pointing out that the Joe Meek article is dated to 2020, which is three years after I sent my first ideas to Steve. This project has been in the making for so long, I had almost completely forgotten about it. At the time, I was mostly just frustrated that you couldn't find the PMMFTSQ deluxe edition anymore for a decent price.

No one's noticed amongst the track listing the first official appearance on CD of two Spectres demos 'Love In Vain' and 'Say That You Need Me' from 1965, only previously available on a vinyl-only rare psyche compilation. I've a feeling these might have come from the archive of Roy Lynes who once included an excerpt of one of them when he used to post little homemade vintage-Quo videos on his YouTube channel, which i think may no longer be in existence, not sure. I'm glad you picked up on that! I remember reading about those and thinking these really deserve a wider release, and that's probably why they're on there. Occasionally, I do get things right As I said, it's been such a long time since I looked at those spreadsheets that I've forgotten a lot of my thought processes. (One thing I did remember was that I had also suggested the inclusion of the Vienna bootleg - yeah, it sounds bad, but it's the only known live recording of the band's pre-boogie set.)

Looks like the sleeves have the full title. But yeah, the bummer about the handling of the two albums on CD 1 and 2 is that both discs have a miniature version of the original cover, which wouldn't have been the case if it had been done as you mention. A bit inelegant. Speaking of sleeves, I would've put the Spectres/Traffic Jam disc in a cover based on this single...

Depends what your suggestions were. Still waiting for my copy to turn up. Another Quo release im credited in, afaik The name and concept of a disc called "Before Status Quo" are mine Now I'm feeling a bit smug (Admittedly, it's not the most original idea...) I'll have to dig out my old files to see how much else survived from my concept. I certainly didn't suggest putting two different albums on one CD twice, but I also don't hate the idea.

Some good and some not so good songs. End of the Line has always been my favourite track - Rick's vocal is something to behold.

You're right - it's even on the back of the box set, as you can see in the images.
But is it right to say it's never been on any vinyl pressing of the album?

Is "One Way to Roll" the Young/Moody song that was intended for Quo? (And was on the bootleg version of John Coghlan's Diesel's "Flexible Friends", but left off the official one... I can't even find it on YouTube!)

ITAN 2010 doesn't really fit that well on QPQ anyway - the box set didn't have it, for instance. It's on the CD of the album included in the box set, even though Discogs says it isn't. I'm listening to it right now. Huh! Guess someone should edit that entry then. Is it mentioned on the packaging anywhere? If yes, can you put a pic up?

Yeah, leaving I Ain't Wasting My Time off is a really stupid move, especially since the 2013 Edsel reissue had both tracks (and the Edsel QPQ not only had the second disc, but also "Paper Plane" and "Softer Ride", which were originally only on the box set). Also, they should have used the Still In Search of the Fourth Chord double CD as a template. Failing that, reissue the ITAN 2010 CD, maybe? ITAN 2010 doesn't really fit that well on QPQ anyway - the box set didn't have it, for instance.
Also, ISOTFC deserves a remaster.
Thinking of it, perhaps the reason that they're not including the live tracks from Still In Search and the QPQ 2CD is because of the Archive series? But that still leaves a couple of unique bonus tracks from Bula Quo that they could've appended to disc 1 (Fiji LOAI and edit of RAOTW).
Ugh, it's all such a mess.

I think that if they were pressed in such low numbers, it would be advertised as such. Heck, look at the Blu-Ray Audio of the new Mark Knopfler album, which is limited to 2000 units (also, Paul of SDE said that 500 isn't really a feasible number for ventures like these), or earmusic's own limited Marillion live album reissues, which were limited to 5000 and numbered.
Although those releases at least have something unique to them, which those new Quo reissues sadly don't have.

To add onto this, earmusic don't have the rights to the original version of In the Army Now from 1986, but they do have the rights to the 2010 remake. Otherwise, they could've put a live version on, but that would've kinda defeated the point of a 2000s compilation (which the Don't Stop tracks do, but oh well).

What a lot of people have missed is how good Francis' vocal is. His voice sounds better than the 2003 recording. He sounds suspiciously good. There's one high part that barely sounds like him. Autotune/Melodyne/?
