I liked it at the time. Quite a lot. And played it endlessly. I thought it was a huge improvement on both 1+9+8+2 and Back to Back.
However, the last time I played it, which was a while back, I thought it hadn't stood the test of time that well. But I'm still happy to play End of the Line, Overdose and the two singles you mention.
Some 80's albums are actually timeless; from many artists. This isn't one of them.

My older brother had "From The Makers Of..." tin. 12 Gold Bars. I had the tape of this. I can remember bits and pieces. Rollin' Home is the first thing I think of whenever I see the album cover or title.

I thought the two singles were ok. But I also liked "Invitation" still do! Always had a weak spot for Rossi´s country songs.

A product of its era really embracing production techniques of the time. It was pretty much cobbled together quickly after the debacle of the split and court case. The majority of it could have easily ended up on solo albums. Always liked “In your eyes” for some reason. As Mortified says much better than the two albums before.

Some good and some not so good songs. End of the Line has always been my favourite track - Rick's vocal is something to behold.

I hate it, apart from the 2 songs thewildone mentioned. RAOTW was a 'surprise' for most fans after BFY but it has been accepted that it was the change of production style that made it contentious. But this shit? even the cover is embarrassing, blokes in jeans on top of a scrapheap recreating the flag raising on Iwo Jima...Smell The Glove.

Favourite Quo Album: On The Level

Kind of leaves me cold a bit, this album. It did even when i was 11 when it came out. I got into Quo as Back To Back and all its singles came out, and found this one in comparison a bit lacking in fun and jolliness, for want of a better word. It sounded a bit cold and clinical without Alan's warm, thudding bass, and Jeff's over-produced drum sound. Rollin' Home and its accompanying video was a good start, Red Sky rocked but sounded pretty synthetic, and by the time of the Army single, it had all gone a bit too serious for this 11 year old. Dreamin' redressed the balance, but was then just a bit tooooo silly. Then you had Rick's moody rockers pitted against Francis' country style. The only inbetweens for me were Calling and Save Me, not-quite-good-enough songs. In Your Eyes has remained the above-all favourite ever since. Something about the guitar solos sounded proper Quo, bouncy, quirky, and fun, in that Rossi style.
Even though it gets slated, the Complaining album which came next was far preferrable - a warmer, fuller sound, and better songs IMO.
