Nice one Ant, this is great. Quo's original has never been a favourite, but this speeded up, rocked up version is vastly better. Great guitar work, love the heavy drum sound and the extended outro is absolutely the bee's knees. Superb!

Cheers Mortified Yes, a year after the Italian releases in 2001, fifteen of the twenty tracks from the Italian recording session were released in Germany on this CD that you mention: www.discogs.com/release/4956746-John-Coghlan-The-Best-Of-Status-QuoThey had their work cut out to fit fifteen tracks in though, chopping a lazy six minutes plus from Roadhouse versus the original release and recording. I really hope JC and the SoQ guys made some money out of these releases - not to mention the later streaming compilations - but I wouldn't be all that confident!

This is a truly bizarre compilation. Across the album, there are 18 Quo original recordings, including Perfect Remedy along with many others, and 18 tracks recorded by JC in Italy in 2001 with the lads from the then incarnation of State of Quo. I don't know the full back story, but briefly, JC along with Paul Carr, Mike Grady and Graham Peters from SoQ, ended up recording at least twenty tracks in these Italian sessions. The record company released these twenty tracks - in Italy - across two CDs in 2001. There were twelve tracks on each CD, with four tracks appearing on both CDs. www.discogs.com/release/6732198-John-Coghlan-The-Best-Of-Status-Quo-Performed-By-The-Original-Member-John-Coghlan-www.discogs.com/release/13349438-John-Coghlan-John-Coghlan-Performs-The-Best-Songs-Of-Status-QuoAs I recall from SoQ band member comments on the old official MB at the time, they were not altogether happy with at least some of the final versions, but I must say that the recordings have held up pretty well over the years. Fast forward fifteen years or so and all but two of these twenty tracks are then bundled with a bunch of Quo originals and released on all the streaming platforms. There are around half a dozen different streaming 'albums' available, all released around 2014 or 2015. There are very slight variations between the track listings on each of the albums and very slight variations in the title, though all are based around a theme of 'John Coghlan performs Status Quo Greatest Hits'. And just a final nod to the incompetence / disinterest of whoever assembled these albums. The two tracks from the twenty recordings released from the Italian sessions in 2001 that are not included on these more recent streaming albums are Down Down and RAOTW. However, Quo's original recordings of both these tracks are included. Pretty special work this.

Check out the new single from Norwegian boogie rock maestros, Hercules.
It's called Bite-Size Blues and is another nailed on classic. Great work guys!

Another beauty Ant, a great take on one of Quo's best efforts from the 80s. Looking forward to hearing more from Quollaboration!

Here you go - a lossless copy of Lucinda from the CD single You'll Come 'Round. I've also included the other B-side track on the single, a live recording of Down Down from the Montreux Jazz Festival, 4 July 2004. Enjoy! we.tl/t-FUnpUKmUpR

Here's a link to the replacement stereo CD that was issued on request after the audio CD originally issued with the Just Doin' It Box Set was inadvertently released in mono. we.tl/t-ADFp59pMGdNot the record company's finest hour, but not the first time this sort of thing has happened with Quo, and probably won't be the last. At least they got their act together and made the stereo CD available pretty sharp-ish.

Great stuff Ant, another winner. I've always enjoyed the original, but this is heavier and a bit Quo-ier as well, certainly for the Parfitt-like rhythm guitar sound for sure. Great video too!

Hi sqcollector Here are the two tracks you were interested in. I've used the formal title for Prices Are Down as it appears on the Aussie Tour Edition of QPQ, the title being 'Down Down (Coles 2012)'. The less said about the lyrics the better, but the sound is nice and heavy. And it's quite an interesting Orchestral take on Not Fade Away too. Here's the link, good for seven days - we.tl/t-LAADzd1YzYEnjoy!

Hi sqcollector I've definitely got Prices Are Down, and I am pretty sure I have the Orchestral version of Not Fade Away also. It will be Saturday before I have the opportunity to dig out the CDs and rip them to WAV format, but I'd be very happy to do that. I'll put up the link over the weekend. Cheers Peter

I wonder if there is any chance of these great rarities getting an official release at some stage. The ITAN Deluxe would have been the obvious place, but hopefully there might be some other avenue for a release in the not too distant future. Fingers crossed.

Hi All
Sorry for writing in English, but my Dutch language skills are very limited.
Older fans probably have good memories of the Quo-influenced band De Bako's led by the late Tejo Leijen. Tejo was a big Quo fan as well as a very talented musician, but he was tragically killed in a light plane crash in 2004.
I was fortunate enough to have some contact with Tejo in the early 2000s and, thanks to him, I have copies of De Bako's second and third releases, Het Stamcafe (a maxi-CD single or EP) and Ondergrond, a full length album. Both contain a combination of originals as well as strikingly original takes on the Quo classics.
The one release by De Bako's that I have never heard is their first release, Allemaal Flauwekul, from the mid-90s. Google translate suggests that this translates as something like 'All Nonsense', which sounds just like Tejo's brand of humour!
He did mention the Allemaal Flauwekul album in an old email exchange from many years ago, and called it just a bit of Quo fun!
I would really like to hear this album. If any fan has a copy of De Bako's Allemaal Flauwekul and was prepared to make a copy (or rip the tracks to wav or flac and share them to me), I would be extremely grateful. I'd be happy to meet any costs of course and would be happy to share in return.
Cheers Peter
