Folks I know unofficially...but that was something else. JC Quo were outstanding to start with and then it all kicked off.
RPJ came out and sang Rain, living on an island and Big Fat Mama. He was outstanding. You could nearly touch the emotion. He was blown away with the reaction.
Encore after that and Al was introduced. It could have been Hammy the atmosphere was so good. Backwater, Roadhouse and BBJ. Incredible. RPJ, Bob Y and Mickey Moody joined BBJ. At the very end JC handed drums over to someone and joined Al singing.
Make no mistake, I was at the memorial concert.
A little downside...serious weather warning in Northern Ireland for tomorrow so us 3 booked a 7am flight in the middle of ROLD. We are out of here at 330am. Good night.

Oh yes, and I wondered who was on drums at the end when John came to the front. Was it the drummer that played with Bob and Micky?

Relaxing at airport now...knackered. original flight was late afternoon but that's when the weather is to deteriorate.
Anyway back to last night, still absolutely buzzing ( ears too). They got it so perfect. It was just so amazing. The buzz of chatter in the hall after the concert was incredible.
Probably my last ever Quo event. Just can't see how the next convention can offer me something that will beat this and will probably not be the same type of theme anyway. This was just the perfect unofficial memorial concert.
When RPJ was playing there was a picture of Rick on the screen above.RPJ talked about learning the songs and preparing was a healing process for him and thanked the fans for the book of comments that Yvonne gave him. If RPJ played in current Quo, I may actually go and see them..he is a real show man. He tried to sing LOAI with an aquostic guitar only ..the singing from the crowd practically drown him out the noise was so loud.
Alan had a ball...he loved it and sang so well...
Still on a high and so glad I went.
Thanks Yvonne and Viv sorry we didn't meet...woild have liked that..

Sounds great, glad you guys had a blast.
Not sure I’ve mentioned it but I was at the NEC watching Neil Diamond.....76 years old and banging out hit after hit for over 2 hours.....incredible.

Cheers for the rather good report. I wish I was there but really happy for all those that attended by all accounts an excellent event. Are there any clips around? Also how many Quo fans were in attendance?

Hi 37! Yes it was brilliant. Some posts on the convention Facebook page but it may be a closed group? I'm sure there will be plenty on YouTube soon! I think there were reports of about 820 there.
Just having McD's for breakfast then I'll be on my way home

I was seeing people I hadn't seen previously...it felt like 5000...and considering what a shit hole Butlins is and the location, a one night event of that nature would probably sell Hammy out. Maybe they should repeat it for Hammy as the official memorial event.
