I'm sure you'll survive... There's counselling available Only thing I said was that if Francis told Rick's wife to leave him while she still could, then it shows that the contents in the synopsis of Rick's book, that they don't care for each other, is more than likely true... But yeah, who listens right? I'm not one for gossiping or spreading rumours but, from what I've heard, he probably shouldn't have said that to her....And that's after his first wife, who is now practically homeless and whom he drove mad and Elizabeth, who pissed off to Canada to get away from him Touche with regard to Elizabeth ... I always felt she put the distance in for a reason. No idea if that is fair or not, it's just what I felt. But I can't imagine anyone letting an innocent blonde run off with Rick without saying something unless their lips were sewn up ... i seem to recall Rick was all over the blondes around town back in the 80s, and they all seemed to have his measure. Lyndsay seems not to have heard the news ... As I said....From what I've heard, if true, he should be the last person to say that to anyone's wife/girlfriend.
All I'm saying on the matter...
As for Lyndsay....She knew full well what she was getting into. "I had no clue who he was or Status Quo" Haha yeah, right OK. That's bullshit for a start. She said she had more money than him when they met....If that's even 1% true, what happened her money then? And how does she not know where that went?
"I had more money than him. I was worth 1.5 million and he was living in an apartment worth 3 million" Yeah....More holes in this story than the Grand Canyon....Assuming that has holes that is

She has her own place now and she did visit Francis and Eileen a couple of Christmases ago. And she was at one of F's solo gigs, etc. And she was not "homeless" (actually living in a caravan because she had sold the house he originally bought from her, apparently in the belief that he was not going to leave anything to their sons, like, he was going to die right then and there??) because of anything Francis did to her, or made her do. She sounds as if she was going through a panicky phase ... it can happen to perfectly ordinary people, not because of anything their families do.

It did actually say in the article where some of her money went ... and by "money" she may well mean "cash", which Rick seemed to have difficulty hanging onto. And it is a stunning but true fact that outside of the obsessive fanbase, most people have no idea who the individuals in name bands are, or what they look like, unless they are hobby celeb-watchers. She may well have known sod all beyond the name. Funnily enough if you want clues about Rick's racketty lifestyle, you have to trawl through a lot of stuff - he's not in the papers every week. (Whatever he says in This is Me ) Maybe she didn't read Patty's book - ;-) Or maybe she did and decided to take a chance on it. She must have been to some good parties in the last few years, and she has two lovely kids who I hope will have the chance to grow up well and healthy despite all the present shenanigans. Grand Canyon is not particularly holey, but it is very, very, big so you are probably safe there.

I'm of the opinion that anyone who was her age back then, knew full well who Rick and Francis were. I've mates who never heard any of their songs and know about them.
2. Tbf, all she had to do was Google him. In this day and age, there is no excuse for not knowing about someone.
3. You mention kids there...Which brings up something.....What does she mean by "whatever my stepsons now think of me?" Why is there a need to say that?
There is wayyyyyyyy more to this. Plus, IMO, she doesn't exactly look poor in those photos in the paper.

I can see this been taking up as a dig and the usual suspect having a go at me....
However, with certain incidents, I can see why Francis drove her round the bend.....Homer Simpson antics tbf

That was 1996 the same ammount that Rick is supposed to have had. I think it shows that papers make a lot up as they go along.

I always thought Rick and Francis had more money than that, despite whatever they were spending it on.

Well I think they were ripped off several million in the 70s/80s, Alan knew about it but they didn't listen to him. They might have got that back but they were broke in 1985.

Yes I think even Francis himself says he was a arse in the late 70s when off his head on drugs. Though I think She was not always easy, the "it's the band or me" conversation happened quite a lot. Especially in the early years when the band was struggling. Though a relationship break up is never nice it made for some good writing material. Song's like Down Down, Dirty Water, Hold You Back, Can't Give You More. I think all came from the relationship struggles.

Sorry, not having a go, just saying that article is the source material for everything we know about that time. Nobody comes out of it very well at all ... but then, also, it's that kind of article. Yes, I suspect Francis did drive her round the bend. History is littered with the fallout of first-marriages to someone who then became a rock star. They are away most of the time and rarely even slightly faithful. Patty clearly did the right thing when she turned Rick down the first time Good point about the stepsons ... I don't know if this story has holes, but what we don't know about it has to be at least as roomy as the Grand Canyon.

He wrote Me and Harry only.

I think it shows that papers make a lot up as they go along. What happens is (I am told) that a paper prints something loosely related to, say, one of those "how rich are these celebs", or one of those wealth reports, which are basically inaccurate - and then just go on repeating the same figure out of their file bin decade after decade. That way they can point to a source, but don't have to worry about being right. Canny!

I keep thinking of those saucepans.
Whatever else, there were clearly two minds that thunk alike there ...
