On the last two points though. Rick himself said he could not keep the pace up much longer as he was finding it tough. He wanted to stop this year but Francis said no - True However Rhino also said it was evident that Rick was going to "fall over" again. Now was that the reason why Francis dug his heels in. To try and protect the band from the possibilty of uninsured cancellations. In the end the band is a business and the buck stops with Francis and Rick. The same applies to Francis bigging up Richie. Ok maybe he worded it wrong but he has to"Sell" the shows. So of course he had to say the band was good. That's not good marketing deep down I suspect he felt it difficult going on without Rick but he had to be seen as being positve. It's like how Rick used to say about every new Quo album "It's the best we have ever done." He was selling it that's all. You ask if that's the reason why Francis dug his heels in....
I can't answer that, as it had been speculated Rick was doing shows next year and that he said he felt fit etc etc. But, however, maybe that is the reason Francis did dig his heels in....
But since there is no evidence that suggests that, I can only go on the obscene amount of times he's dug his heels in, in the past, and the mind boggling reasons and disastrous outcomes as to why he did in the first place
Rick was planning on some shows but they were not going to be all out Rock shows. It was an "evening with Rick" type thing with him sitting down chatting and playing some songs.

Rick was planning on some shows but they were not going to be all out Rock shows. It was an "evening with Rick" type thing with him sitting down chatting and playing some songs. See, I'd like to believe that's why Francis dug his heels in.... But, time and time again, he has dug his heels in for nowt more than misinformed, misjudged, selfish and arrogant reasons. The one time he decided to stop acting like that, it felt like a proper band again between 2001 and 2007. He dug his heels in over John. He dug his heels in over the music he wanted to do and dismissed Alan's and Rick's He quite slyly dug his heels in over Alan, as he did with the knife in his back. He dug his heels in over recording Army, to the point where he told Rick he was only going to record an album if he recorded Army, as Rick was on the brink. He dug his heels in over changing the sound and formula that had been so successful and made them one of the best in the world. He dug his heels in over a change of style from denim to suits and slicked hair. He dug his heels in over Perfect Remedy. He dug his heels in over Thirsty Work. He dug his heels in, back in 86, over people having to run their ideas past him first. He dug his heels in over the FF, again And that's just the tip of the iceberg, mate. I know this place is refered to as "the dark side" and various people act as if Francis is perfect and refuse to see anything else other than the person he used to be but, lots of us have our well thought out, valid reasons for thinking the worst of him. For years, he has said Alan is too macho and acts the hard man etc and yet, Alan has been the one showing the emotion about what happened to him back in 86 for years , and Francis is the one who acts the "hard man" and doesn't show any emotion, the whole time. What gets me about all this is that there are people who refuse to see this, even though it's staring them right in the face. Some arse hole on FB, claims he's in the know, anytime something about Francis comes up, he says Francis is innocent and it's been everyone else's fault, that Rick and Alan were divas and he even had a pop at Matt fucking Letley

I have never thought he is perfect I mean years of drug abuse is just plain bloody stupid. I think any musician can be a diva and musical arguments are inevitable in a band especially after so many years. Francis made mistakes of trying to follow trends at times, though he now admits were wrong. He says he hates Aint Complaning as being too 80s. Not sure on Thirsty Work I know the rest of the band say the songs were great but they were not "Quo" songs. Which is something Francis has trouble with as he sees songs he writes as being ones suitable for Quo.
Still he does not always get his own way he wanted to out songs like All We Really Wanna Do and Youll Come Round in the set. However he was vetoed about those though he did put them in his Solo set a few years ago.
He is too much of a perfectionist though regarding touring and he is afraid of something going wrong. So FF was more dangerous for him he can't do anything spontaneous anymore.
I don't find everything he does right though I try to give a balanced opinion that's all. Thing is I do like most of the stuff he and the rest of the band have done. Maybe that means im less critical over certain things I don't know.

As I said before, I can't stand that sort of behaviour and I can't respect anyone who openly lies. Don't get me wrong, I actually happen to love the Army album and the gigs around 1989 and 1990,ISOTFC, UTI, HT, QPQ, a lot of AC etc and anytime I seen them live they always delivered. However, they were nothing compared to what made them and I find Francis' dismissive behaviour of that period and music, his "friends" and the way he slandered Alan and John as Shameful. This ain't about "Oh I hate Soft In The Head and MT. What a **** Rossi is." I don't like them but, any artist can record what they like, so long as they deliver on the live setting (As if Alan stood a chance) This is about pulling him up on the actions, decisions and behaviour that have ran this once great band, and its legacy, into the ground.

One thing worth bearing in mind is that for better or worse the only reason you still have a band called Status Quo is because of Rossi, love or loath him and or the current incarnation of the band, and to that end that's why we got the FF shows in 2013 - 14.
Regardless of his attitude and frankly wrong moves he's made over the years he's also the one who has kept it all together and that in itself is an achievement and i doubt in all honesty Rick would have been capable of doing the same thing if the shoe was on the other foot.
Bands are strange entities, at the end of the day it's a business, and one of the primary driver has to be to make enough money so that you and your employees can be paid (hopefully) a fair and decent wage, add artistic temprament into the equation and it can be a heady mix.
There is also a counter argument to this, tbh is you delve into things you can see things have often been less than harmonious in the quo camp so why didn't Rick bugger off and do hos own thing years ago, i loved the guy for what he bought to the band, however without doing a u turn on stuff i've said previously it's rare that there isn't 2 sides to a story!

By the same token though, there almost wasn't a Quo because of Francis and those fans shouldn't have had to wait 32 years for the FF shows I get your point though

This won't be a perfect timeline..so feel free to add to, and afterwards, if you still want to support the current pathetic band, good luck to you. After 2014, FF- was pretty clear that Francis made it clear it wouldn't be happening again, regardless of Ricks view. Francis done a radio interview that made it clear, Rick could head off and do PLC Reports in media that they no longer spoke. Appostic was recorded largely without Rick, and a dog in the street could see Rick wasn't happy. For some reason Freddie played guitar on Appistic the band started to play gigs without Rick, and used insurance as an excuse, when in fact they have cancelled many times because of Francis they announce last electric tour, and Rick admits its more about what Francis wants than anyone else. they choose to continue on with the last electric tour, even if you believe the insurance shite, why does Francis have to talk about how good the band are now and how great Richie is, without one mention of Rick Rick announces that he wants to be a rocker and is fit but choosing to leave quo. Within hours Porter announces that despite press statements to the contrary , Rick will still be involved with quo, something not right there. Rick sends initial draft of autobiography to publishers, highlighting the problems with Francis. feel free to add, but Rick has been treated appallingly, and no doubt I believe died in a very unhappy way with the way he was treated. I hope lynsey finishes the book, the truth about this pathetic band should be told. The Gospel according to derryquo. Are there any parts of this inaccurate. ..actually I think there is more to add..feel free or feel free to dis pure any of it...Other than that I will conclude you have made a meaningless comment..

As posted previously, I'm reluctant to post over critical comments at a very sad time, but I have to agree with this. Its probably one of my main disappointments about Francis because I freely admit I was one of those with her eyes blinkered and shut who used to think that Francis was the refreshingly 'unmacho' one.
I've got the DVD, but still watched "Hello Quo" anyway the other night on BBC4. Unfortunately the one gratuitously swearing and being "Jack The Lad" to the camera most of any of them was ...Francis. By a country mile.
Alan came across in articulate contrast compared to Francis - with, unlike Francis, no pretentious and annoying bullsh1t trying too hard to play to the camera, create a reaction and attract self attention to protect a fragile ego.
Alan has grown up in this respect. He knows how to be himself, as did Rick ( for all his lack of self will and discipline).
John is also your every day down to earth guy who is simply himself
Sadly, Francis is clearly uncomfortable in his own skin and his idiosyncrasies seem to magnify and jar more and more the further he gets into old age.
Watching that documentary brings the truth of this impression home very hard. Especially in the sad circumstances that have evolved since

Francis problem is that he has to show off in front of a camera. Now is that because he is trying to overcome shyness which is what he says with his tag line. It does seem to me to be true, he always seems uneasy in front of a camera.

Other than the natural chemistry apparent when Alan and John were present in the company of Rick and Francis, Alan's voice was the most missed thing about Quo since the "real deal" back in the hey-day. Reunions gigs proved that in spades.
The opportunity was wasted while Rick was alive to do something more to redeem this problem, beyond just the reunions, but now it has gone forever.

With Rick he was happy to go on stage have fun on the road and maybe have party now and again. Look at the Rock on and On doc, him and Rhino off their faces on the tour bus. Since he got clean Francis has been much more disciplined maybe too much but that might be his way of avoiding temptation. I think Rick's sense of having fun played second fiddle to what he wanted to do musically. He was going on tour, making money having fun. Why give that up for the unknown of life on your own. Even if was more artistically pleasing to himself.

Christ there's some horse shit being written on this thread! I've long thought DQ had far too much spare time on his hands but it looks like FW has joined his club as well
You two really do need to try and get out more rather than hypothesising about what a bastard Francis is.

You two really do need to try and get out more rather than hypothesising about what a bastard Francis is. Hmmm let's see... Full time, well paid job. A wedding band on the go. A covers band on the go. A new original material band on the go. Music lessons given at weekends. And, in my spare time, posting well thought out arguments on the band that I love..... You were saying, Billy Bollix? I'm not going to comment on your posting traits....And we know why
