One of the strangest guitars Ricks ever used... and god knows why he decided upon getting two of them. Anyone know what happened to his Schecter Tele? he still had that around 2004/05 He sold it, I have seen someone on FB now owns it. Though it looks a mess as he has never replaced the Strings that Rick put on it and a couple are missing. That won't do the neck much good I would have thought.

That's what makes the Tele great. Sculpted body guitars like the Strat are for wimmin. They're not known as "planks" for nothing. I've always found Tele's very comfortable to play. The edges are not sharp at all. Try playing a Les Paul - the binding edge is like a knife in comparison. I daresay a guitar made of puff pastry would be punishing to the skin if you hit it as hard as Rick! That's probably why he got rid of that Bound Tele he had in the early days. That was not going to get smoother and would have taken chunks out of your arm.

Not a fan of those. I used to find it amusing seeing Mike Rutherford playing one of these, Great big tall bloke with a teeny guitar. Same goes for Geddy Lee he went from a Rickenbaker to one of these. Thankfully he got his Jazz Bass back out again.

Found it. Seems the guy also owns that Brown Telecaster that Andy used for a while. www.facebook.com/groups/1044018642297290/search/?query=schecter

Thanks you can see something is going on below the white around the worn patch, I don't know a great deal about guitars but I don't think they put dark undercoats on them, so I wondered if he'd been redecorating. He covers the bit about teles being downright uncomfortable because of the right angled body (fixed in the Strat and other electrics) and how it's worn away where he rests his arm on it, but he doesn't say whether he hurried up the process by taking sandpaper or an axe to it before repainting, or whether he just put up with a few years of inflamed arm while it weathered in He might have done a bit of sandpapering as If you look at this Vid he has had it about a year at this point and you can see the wear already. Any excuse But I have to admit, what I can see (not a huge lot) looks like good old wear and tear to me.

That scratchplate looking fucking awful nowadays.. shame it's not being cared for properly. Those strings are 10+ years old now... He should really change them and give it a clean

I certainly hope the white tele doesn't suffer the same fate of the Schecter and goes to Rick Jr to possibly encase as it is and treasure forever.

When did Rick actually get his white tele? the story was always early 1974 but there are pictures from the Hello Autumn tour ('73 ofcourse) of him using it
and does anybody know when he broke his original Gibson Melody Maker? definitely the Army tour due to stupid double drum riser setup, but he was still using it in December 1986... He was constantly breaking strings on his Esquire whilst playing Little Lady.
