Some constructive and interesting reviews on Amazon. A refreshing change from the usual on this board. Perspective is everything.

Just looked on Amazon best sellers in popular music. No 1 is Take That and not even been released yet but Quo are no 13 which was much higher than I expected. And most reviews are positive too. www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Sellers-Music/zgbs/musicIf that's the first week sales it is going to sell a lot less than the first one as you don't need to sell that many to get in A axons top10. So already it's the worst performing album in years. Most Quo product in the first week is top 10. Bula Quo no10 QPQ no 10 Aquostic stripped No 5

Does it matter whether it is selling well or otherwise?
Its simply not aimed at long term 70's fans, the majority who compromise this virtual audience and wish that Quo played, and identified themselves with the music they originally became famous for.
AQII is the culmination of a process that has been going on for years and years with an insidious migration/switching of the Quo audience from a lairy rock orientated one to a family friendly, casual and general contemporary music appreciation collective.
The changed audience face is now fully matched by the acoustic stage presence, backing audience, singers and accordion player. Rick "the wild man" was the remaining outlier to this changing profile. Unfortunately his ailing health has proved the catalyst to allow this metamorphosis to be achieved.
Putting aside the usual FF/CQ eras focus, the first embryo metamorphosis as I see it was 1968/9 to 1971. Trippy and technicolour bubblegum/ fiskadelic to boogie rock.
The second closing of life cycle metamorphosis has been occurring between 2014 and 2016. A final reprise celebration of that original boogie rock formula bowing out to pave the way for an inoffensive, if very bland acoustic strum along - one that is not to my taste unfortunately.
The lifecycle has gone full circle and is complete as I see it.
For those who really like AQ II - enjoy it Those who are going to remaining gigs, whether acoustic or electric then enjoy them For those with very opposite belief and taste, my opinion (for what little it is worth) best to accept that what is gone is finally gone and take a perspective of the final metamorphosis by enjoy the tribute acts up and down the country instead who play the "original way" . Very much including John's solo band of course. Maybe a surprise solo project or two may appear in the future that offers some semblance of what was - who knows?
For me - there is nothing else to say or contribute, so its time to bow out as far as the virtual Quo world is concerned. "Quo time" will amount to favourite albums and CD's when the inclination jives.
Ciao - have fun

No it doesn't matter if its selling well. Out of curiosity I looked to see how it was doing on Amazon and never expected to see it so high in the charts after hanging out on here. So I thought I share my surprise. Farewell Catlady. I had first spotted that your post was also your valediction. Do return if you fancy some more Quo banter. And PF, good point. I didn't know that about Amazon reviews though it doesn't surprise me.

All the best, Catlady...shame you felt you had to leave, but that's everyone's own choice. I wish you well and as CG said, do come back if you fancy some more quo- or other banter

Woohoo.. Elvis the pelvis at No.1 with the help of Royal Philharmonic Orchestra! I wonder if Simons had a lightbulb moment. ;-)

It does matter how this sells
If it does half as well as A1, then we will get A3
If it stiffs, there will be a different project.
I think it deserves to stiff. The band know very well that large sections of the fanbase hated the accordion on A1. They could easily have listened and recorded A2 without one. But no, they've done the same again. I accept that fans who liked A1 are likely to enjoy A2....guess it's a case of how diminished the returns will be this time. I doubt it will sell a third of what A1 sold. By no means everyone who bought A1 liked it, and many of those who did won't feel the need for more of the same
I find it surprising that some fans are content that a new Quo album is an OK listen for once or twice and that's that. My expectations for what a new Quo album should be are way, way higher than that.

"The band" is now Francis Rossi. How ironic, yet somehow of no surprise, that he should be the last man standing!

Catlady, sorry to see you leave, joining a long long list from barejear to quozone throughout the years and more recently, including the meltdown of the official board, who have shared your sentiment. This all probably all stems from RAOTW as even recognised by Rossi in a recent interview.(RAOTW he acknowledges brought the highest correspondence on any matter to Quo on what fans viewed as a massive mistake). As such we have been all extremely loyal, patient or just plain stupid and idiotic to hold out the candle of hope. The warmth and joy from the shared interest and community has taken many knocks and most originate from Rossi's dominance, selfishness, ego and mania. I do think it all is now completely at and end and 'Quo' dead and buried for good. I share your sentiment completely.
