A complete utter disgrace. I don't know how anyone can defend Porter now.
Why wait till now? Thursday a slow news day? Or the papers got in before them and management planned on waiting even longer to announce it?
Wouldn't be surprised.
The added bit about Rick releasing a solo album exemplifies more than anything how this band is motivated by money and greed. Absolutely no need to mention this.
If Rick has sense, he will get away from this group of unsavoury characters, release the album on his own, do his own promotion, free from gimmicks and exploitation.

Two points here.... 1. Why did Rick give an interview to the Daily Mail and not FTMO? 2. "Quo is not Quo without me..." he says as they continue without him and try shift tickets for a tour, under the name, Status Quo. Rick is sticking the boot in That statement Porter put out is just full of holes.

Thanks for some great memories Rick. No guitarist was more exciting to watch than Rick Parfitt at full volume. Look after yourself mate.

Banter has been fun although one of us gets a little carried away. You work out who.... Been great fun at shows in Australia. Rick was and is by far the best rhythm guitarist going, bar none. Will always love the Quo. Been a huge part of my life. We all wish Rick the best. Rockon Wilquo

Great photo. Love it. Thanks Rick for all the great times. Enjoy time with family and take care. Thoughts are with you. Rockon Wilquo You know, I had a gut feeling that last gig in Sydney 2013,when Rick through me his plectrum, that it would be the last time I'd see them. Today,on news of Ricks retirement, that plectrum has a lot more sentimental value for me. I remember, at Quos gig in Canberra 2006, when Rick was leaning over literally 2 feet in front of me with his guitar inches away just hammering away at it. A very powerful experience I won't forget.

Thank you CG et all for the info!
To quote the lad in the EOTR-vid: This is the end of an era.... Quo-wise.
Taking care of himself and his family is a new start! All the best, mr. Parfitt and thank you for the ride.

Hey Gaz. We are very different people but gee have had similar situation. Received my plectrum at Thebarton down front right under his guitar at the stage. Great memories. Mate, he is not dead so wish him well and look forward to his solo album if ever happens. May well get out some Quo tonight and watch with a beer in hand. Power playing on Blue Eyed Lady was special from the reunion gigs. Rockon Wilquo

Well, this time it really is, finally over. I can't complain personally, feel like i've had my fill of quo. First gig NEC 1984 "end of the road" and then the unforgettable "final gig" at milton keynes bowl the same year. Probably about 20 shows after that (and i know that;s chicken feed compared to a lot of people on here haha) and my last quo gig was Wolverhampton civic hall 2013 to have my first (and last) experience of seeing the original line up play together. There's just no way i'd pay to see a quo without Rick so gig wise, it's "thankyou and goodnight" from me sadly.

....."He said it felt ‘weird’ watching Status Quo play at Hyde Park on TV on Sunday without him, and made him realise ‘a large chunk of my life is missing’. But he added: ‘Going back on the road is a long way off. I do not want to die in front of the fans.’"

It was obvious what they had planned.
Thankfully I don't have tickets.
So sad Rossi couldn't give a warm quote saying how difficult it will be.
Looks like that's it. I will never see the band again. As a reunion looks out of the question.

Sad but inevitable news. I had a feeling this was what was going to be announced. It sounds like Rick may have had some minor brain damage as sky say he he now has memory problems.
