Terrified of hearing what they've done to Backwater... Alan will lose his shit, as Rick quietly seethes and says nowt After getting over the initial shock of hearing Backwater done in a TOTALLY different style, and giving it repeated listens over the past few weeks, I can honestly say that I really like what they've done with it. It's wonderfully swampy and certainly one of the best productions on the album. Backwater doesn't need to be done in a different style. It's Ålans song and fine as it is.Not heard this new arrangement of it and quite frankly hope I never do. Cheers

Utter shit. Piss thin vocal from Francis who also sounded as if he was half-jaked. Mumbled his way through the entire thing. Isn't as good as AIBN as a lead single and Zoe Ball couldn't even get the album name right, so fabulous news. One for the connoisseur then.I can't wait to hear it.

Just listened to That's A Fact on the iPlayer and they played a radio edit. The album version is longer with extra solos in the middle.

Just listened to That's A Fact on the i-player. It would be too easy to diss and dismiss it for all the obvious reasons - but I will attempt some objectivity. Its always been a big big favourite of mine in its original FF form and this version is obviously a country mile away from it. That in itself makes it very hard to objective about it - because its set up for a fall before even hearing it. I can say almost certainly that a lot of long standing fans will loathe it What I will also say just for the the moment is that on my first hearing at least - it is very, very similar to the type of feel of quite a few songs on Francis solo album OSAAT. I liked OSAAT for its difference and because it was a solo album. But this isn't a solo effort and is being given very different treatment to say the least. It was a classic FF song and it requires a large amount of open mindedness to listen to it and then judge it !! There is maybe also an element of Bula Quo running through the song. Well, I discredited AQ1 for being far too strum along. The arrangements on this may be extremely thin compared to the chunky groove of the original, and Francis vocals I agree with above do sound weak and in need of some extra backing depth. However it can't be faulted at all, in my opinion, for trying something very (very) different. I can also say with certainty that I prefer it to some of the AQ1 efforts. That is a relative terms assessment. Its just the not so simple matter of trying to forget the four who recorded it and what this sounds like in comparison!

One of my criticisms of the first album was they put effort into the 'singles' but not the other tracks. So we shall see how many effort are in the other reimaginings. Firstly they benefit from the source material it's a cracking song. In many ways the riff remains as does the chunky vocal. The rest is unnecessary window dressing which adds little. Rhinos bass line is to high in the mix especially as it's so generic it adds little. Francis can't help his voice is a shadow if what it was. Does it make me want to buy it ? No. Is it the worst thing they've done? No. Just a wasted opportunity.
