It'll be an interesting version of Big Fat Mama. It hadn't been in the set for a year or two because they had feedback issues with it apparently. I remember reading that way back in an interview with Francis in one of the music rags. I think it only began to reappear in 1974. They maybe played that song as a sort of rehearsal for the tour. Just guessing mind. It'd be good to see and hear 👍 Although you can see why they'd make little impression in America when placed in a line up like that one Not doubting what you say at all, but it would be a weird decision to play a song that they hadn't played for a couple of years on their biggest live US appearance. Of course, there could have been outside pressures from the network or their record company or something? Maybe the record company were considering releasing the live EP over there at the time? Another mismanagement of their very minor US career?

But it is one of their best tracks. So maybe they thought to go for it.

I've heard they did Big Fat Mama, but there's also a possibility of them also having played ROLD. I have various pictures from their Midnight Special appearance, and one of them shows both Rick and Fran singing edit: I've heard that Don't Waste My Time was played too. Could be a picture from that. Knowing that the video only contains Big Fat Mama, I presume that the only broadcasted song was big fat mama and that's the only song that survives. It's funny. For some reason, I always thought photos of Quo with that large sign behind them were from Spanish TV. No idea where I got that from. Probably just assumed because it features on some European import singles. The Down Down cover from the spanish single (which contains full song by the way, not the single version!) is a photo from that show, so you are correct:

Picture is definitely from DWMT. Certainly not BFM.
With TV appearances that are pre recorded, artists play 2 or 3 songs and then they pick one that is broadcast.

bluehighway, who was there that night, told me that the reason Richie Blackmore changed his musical style was that when he watched Quo on Midnight Special he was sure he heard the words "Hey nonny" during Quo's appearance.

This is utterly brilliant. They are so tight. The 'bit' in the middle where they three of them play finger picked harmonies across the guitars and bass is bang on! Not a gnats fart between them. Tight as a virgin choirboy's whatsname.
And this is the best footage of Spud full stop. Brilliant!!!!
