What’s the worst attended gig you’ve been to? Be interesting to see if any of us went to the same ones.
Sheffield 1989 - I think this was a last minute thing as the date wasn’t on the tour programme. My first gig. Top tier had 2 people in it
Newcastle 1996 - this is pre black curtain so the cavernous arena was embarrassingly empty. Put a dampener on things tbh

Maybe the state of the City Hall's doorstep scared a lot of punters

Wexford June 2012. Gig was going great until the stage got flooded, Rossi was fiercely pissed off at it when he was going to hit a pedal for a solo and the band cut short their set after 50 mins and left. Can't blame them though, as you can see... Great shot of Rick from the gig... Was my first gig to review as a music "critic" Reality is, I blagged my way into getting it just so I could go see Quo for free and go on the piss. Used my top as a wet towel to smack my mate across the arse. Also the first time I heard rumours of the FF reunion. Me and 4 other Quo fans, delirious with excitement Great day, shit weather, not a good gig but, understandable

Telford Ice Rink, back in the '90's, could have been the rock til you drop tour. Freezing cold, shit sound and a shit encore, so for the first and only time, i left a quo gig early.

Easy one really. Castle Donington, Monsters of Rock, 1982. Just one of those that I wish I'd never gone to. The band played poorly (easily the worst I've heard them), the rest of the bill was so-so and the bus journey there and back was nothing more than a chore. Oh, and it rained. Glasses of pi$$ mainly Nice t-shirt though

I think the official crowd was something like 45,000. Certainly down on the first Monsters of Rock with Rainbow a couple of years before. No idea about the others though.

A couple of Aussie gigs come to mind. In 2000, the promoter rather ambitiously booked the enormous Rod Laver Arena (seating capacity around 12000 for gigs) but then only sold about 2,500 tickets so it felt truly awful in there and it was hard for the band to work up an atmosphere in that empty hangar. www.leehawkins.com/NoFrames/Reviews/nov00.htm#melbourneThe Newcastle gig on the 2017 Aussie tour was also really disappointing with only about 800 in the Civic Theatre (so about half capacity), it just looked empty and zealous security refused to allow any standing so it was devoid of atmosphere despite what was actually a cracking performance from the band www.leehawkins.com/NoFrames/Reviews/oct17.htm#newcastle

My parents bought tickets on the day as it was advertised on radio Hallam in a last ditch attempt to shift some you must be thinking of another year. But we can agree to disagree
