Twenty Wild Horses. Great guitar parts, good lyrics, good song. Bet it sounded amazing in the studio.
It could and should have been a live favorite. As good as HYB in many ways, with one difference. No oomph, no heaviness, reduced power. Real shame
Old Familiar Blues. Lovely chords and arrangements. But god those OOOOOO's! Wish they'd worked on it more. Same goes for Electric "wired for sound" arena!

i agree with wild horses, first played live on the Pub Tour, a real good bouncer of a track, didnt they open with it for a short period of time ?

Gotta Get Up and Go... in fact most of the Party album falls under that umbrella for me.
All Stand Up... great song but the awful guitar break really lets it down.
Falling Off the World... like it but something's not quite right with it.

4500x. Surely they could have wrapped it up in 3 mins or less?

Same goes for Electric "wired for sound" arena! I love that song, but it has the same flaw as all Quo Lite stuff, a pedantic rhythm section. So many potentially great songs post 1981 that foundered because Rhino and the drummers just couldn't provide what was needed, and the harmonies were also never the same once Alan left. Before Rick died I had a dream the four of them would get together and re-record the 20 best Quo Lite songs to be proper Quo songs. Sigh...
Anyway, 20 Wild Horses is definitely a 'what-could-have-been.'

Always figured Twenty Wild Horses was perfectly fine and a brilliant wee pop song as is, as is the rest of the album, especially Little Lies. It's like listening to the outro of The Chain and not liking Dreams or Little White Lies because they're not driven to all fuck. Quo were as good a pop band as they were a rock band, although they were a pop band first and foremost, hence why ABBA liked 'em...

Marguerita Time...Seriously. Good lyrics, good melody, good chord progression, would have made a killer slow blues song. Potentially could have been one of the best songs they ever done...
Much of TPAOY album
I kinda prefer Twenty Wild Horses how it is. It suits how Francis sings the song

Also, Electric Arena is let down by the guitar sound and tame backing track. Literally no reverb on the song at all

You can clearly hear it if you isolate the side channel. Maybe just doesn't have enough to your taste. The snare could have a bit more depth, I agree with that.

It was compared to Gary Moore at the time. If so, the reverb was thrown on it from a distance I don't know, it just sounds dry and flat for some reason. The title of the song probably made me expect something else

Always thought they could have done more with “lonely night” hence the reason why it is probably a b side. Its a good tune but if they had added another section or a middle eight vocal section it could have been an epic.

Sorry. Good melodies and nice guitar work, potentially a big song if given the rock ballad treatment. Instead we got a few bits of MT style keyboards
Back to 2WH,the responses here tell me that it's still popular as is. And I still like it... just feel it could have been a big live song. Honestly think that if it had had more oomph it would still be in the set now, and would be a crowd favourite
The obvious one is BB. Terrible in the studio, nobody defends it. Francis said "if we did it with raunchy guitars it would still be a jig", which showed how out of touch with fans he'd become
