I just thought it was weird that I'd never heard it before. Even when Rossi and Parfitt were on a programme about John Peel's record box it wasn't mentioned.
By the way, hershie- thanks for this. It's a spectacular piece of work!
And thanks to everyone above who posted a welcome.

It's good that these things have come to light, unofficial as they are. Be terrific if they saw the light of day as official releases. Depends who is successful at auction. If it's a company prepared to get them out there, that'd be good. If it's a private collector, possibly less so. I also wonder if Quo's performances will be in the studio or on promotional video, which we'll all have anyway. Be interesting to find out.

I doubt we'll ever see them, unless copies are either given to the BBC or the tapes themselves are sent to the BBC.
Whoever wins the auction cannot legally release any of the footage as they dont own the copyrights and could end up with a C&D

These are simply private recordings and, as we are continually being told in every disclaimer we ever see on any video or DVD, cannot be used for public consumption or broadcast.

What an interesting article even if under the picture of Rick and Francis the band are called Statues Quo. Good publicity as well, just goes to show how much interest some of the public still have with Quo. Do we know what clips are shown?

BBC iPlayer currently has the episode of top of the pops from 27th of September 1990 available. It of course has Quo on performing The Anniversary Waltz, which had just entered the chart at 31.

BBC 4 are broadcasting old TOTP's at the moment. Every Friday night. And we've been on 1990 for a few weeks. I suspect this one will be up soon. I haven't watched Friday's yet. I tend to record them and watch them later.

I was worried they'd stopped broadcasting them so that's good to know! Hopefully they'll broadcast the Christmas Day episode from that year as that's one I couldn't find in anything resembling decent quality, if I recall. I haven't forgotten about this thread and I've been meaning to try and update it more - a good number of links have sadly died so they'll need updating, but other stuff should have been uploaded in the meantime. When I can find the motivation I'll try and fix all that and continue with linking everything I can. I can hopefully upload some more bits to my own channel but obviously I've primarily only done the presenter links for copyright reasons. Unique performances should be safer than promo videos at least, but I'll have to see. fwiw I've also "fixed" the b/w Caroline and need to upload that too. The audio on the current version is only in the one channel so it sounds kinda shit.

Any news regarding those new found videos? Did the BBC broadcast them?

Nah a lot of what's been recovered is in shockingly poor quality or the tapes can't even be read consistently. Then there's the issue of transfering things from obsolete formats, which the vast majority of early home video things are. It's very unlikely we'll see any of this unless a record label has interest in obtaining and releasing it.
A bunch of stuff from Lift Off turned up as well and that's barely been seen either, but I know that a couple of tracks by The Sweet are on Youtube.
As for the BBC broadcasting them, it's very unlikely. Fuck all recovered material has ever ended up on TOTP2 - I recall a performance of The Move playing California Man made it out though - from an incomplete tape found at BBC Scotland and looking very washed out. I think possibly a couple of clips have made it on to documentaries about certain artists.
Here's The Sweet, to give you an idea of the quality.

There are some clips of recovered footage here, including Elton John - Rocket Man. I believe this is one of the examples that's subsequently turned up in a documentary although I may be mistaken.
