I have never been a money oriented person. So in the case of Rossi, I can't understand why he hasn't retired and ended Quo.
By most people's standards, he must have enough by now.
Maybe he could run it as a franchise to maintain his income.

Maybe he could run it as a franchise to maintain his income. It already is a franchise. Oh hang on.... I meant parody.

If Francis wanted Quo to stop (like he's always going on about), he should have tapped into the capitalist mindset (another favourite topic of conversation of his) years ago. Yes, the industry has shrunk and product doesn't sell anywhere the numbers that it used to, but it doesn't take a genius to work out that the likes of Burning Bridges and Anniversary Waltz were never going to be earning huge royalties one year later, never mind 30. They were novelty records. Simple as that.
Also, promoting the way Walker and Porter wanted to was never going to earn the band much credibility.
Francis hates that word but in order to be near the top in this business, you have to appear credible.
Instead of taking a single radio station to court because they wouldn't play decades-old cover songs, perhaps he and the rest of the band should have put more effort into writing songs that the hundreds of other stations around the UK would want to play?
Subsequently, getting into bed with the BBC and allowing them to dictate to you what to release was asking for trouble.

An album and more gigs with Alan and Jc would maybe not have earned him as much money but would have restored the bands credibility Sadly no chance now Cheers

Maybe he could run it as a franchise to maintain his income. It does seem people get used to having a certain amount of money and have difficulty adjusting to having less. Particularly if it's been quite a lot of money. And the band's main income now will come from live performances. Franchise ... hmm ... don't give him ideas!

Maybe it's not about the money. Yes, I think he's afraid to sit at home and enjoy life. Retirement is hard for most people and I think he's fighting that.

I think that he won't retire until he has evaporated the last remaining drop of credibility that Quo ever had.

He has the reputation of a recluse within the band,so being at home won't bother him. Plus he can still write for himself or other people. Maybe he really is an insecure little show off and just can't kick the ego trip of playing to an audience.

He has kind of made that point repeatedly I think, if there was no money in it, he would still be performing if he could find any way of doing it.

Most people can't sit at home and enjoy life if they have no purpose. Failing to find that purpose is why so many people, men in particularly, don't long survive retirement.
