I'm sure some of these dates were known about before hand but not officially announced yet of when tickets would go on sale. could be wrong

Someone from this board has infiltrated the Express....it's the only explanation.

Still think it's wrong for the gigs to go ahead, regardless of anything else.

I'm sure some of these dates were known about before hand but not officially announced yet of when tickets would go on sale. could be wrong The Aquostic dates (with the exception of York and Norwich) were announced BEFORE Rick died, he was never going to be playing on any of them as it had been announced he was stopping live work with the band (you may remember the Sky TV interview that was on here).
I had an email from York Barbican BEFORE Christmas for their date (I'm on their mailing list) so that one was booked (though not officially announced on the Quo site) before Rick died, it's logical to assume Norwich was already booked as well.
So, all that has been announced here is dates that were already in the diary/known about - nothing new.
Whilst I can understand those saying the band shouldn't carry on now Rick has died, from a business point of view (and legal point of view) it would be very difficult for them to justify cancelling these dates due to the death of a band member who wasn't scheduled to be playing at them.
I think (and hope) that apart from the tribute concert there won't be any 'new' gigs announced for a long time, if ever again.

I doubt this very much, I think 2017 will be something of an interregnum year with the aquostic gigs and the LNOTE gigs fulfilled as advertised and the rest of the time dedicated to Francis's solo activities and possible few "solo" gigs. However I think by the time 2018 rolls round it will be a case of normal service resumed with a raft of summer outdoor electric gigs followed by an electric winter tour. I think as soon as Rick apparently gave his blessing for them to fulfil the LNOTE gigs and that first post Rick gig with Freddie happened it was inevitable that the caravan would keep on rolling come what may and certainly with the appointment of Richie it looks a foregone conclusion, especially after the praise which Francis has heaped on him.

Agreed, I think Status Quo will carry on for as long as Francis needs to earn money from it. Rick's death will have no bearing on this.

I reckon a new studio album will be released at some point, with Francis claiming how invigorating and fresh the band is now that Richie's on board Cheers

Not sure he does keep saying he wants to pack it in, Last year he said he commited himself to 2 more years when really he wants to stop. He will be 69 in 2018 so who knows he might keep going. However I will not be surprised to hear shortly that Andy is quitting. He is in his 70s now and will not want to keep going for much longer. Rhino will do his own thing and maybe get Leon and Richie to join him in something.

I know Andy is the oldest but he is still physically in great shape and has the advantage of at least being able to sit down for electric gigs when he's on piano, it's only for Hammond and synth work that he's on his feet or for his couple of guitar songs.
Also having seen the band a good few times last year and much as it pains me to say it I have never seen Andy looking so invigorated and really into his playing as he has since Richie's arrival, with Freddie it was as normal but with Richie it really seems to have inspired him, his Hammond work on the latter LNOTE gigs was absolutely superb, playing like 30 years ago and living the songs, so I think there's still plenty of life left in him yet.

"The surviving members Francis Rossi, Andrew Bown, John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, Leon Cave and Richie Malone will perform (Read more at www.nme.com/news/music/status-quo-announce-new-tour-dates-following-rick-parfitts-death-1956376#rdUlOM5VL4s3GU4s.99)That these muppets can be described as 'the surviving members' of Status Quo is just incredible and descends new depths of insanity, depravity and desperation from Rossi. It is so unbelievable, a joke and incredibly bad taste. They are so far away from being Status Quo that there is not even a slither of a debate any more but they hammer on in an ignorant, shameful (or shameless) and totally disrespectful way. I hate this band so much, I wish they would just go and listen to King Kurt
