Taking it for granted that these songs are any good could be a bit..you know.Anyway they all played on Caroline,4500 Times,Backwater,The Mystery Song,Big Fat Mama and the rest and that's enough.

I really can't make my mind up about this one. Part of me hopes that Al and Spud tell Rossi to bugger off if he offers to play on these tracks. It grates with me how he dissed the FF reunions as 'Nostalgia' and that he didn't get it, saying things like the drummer couldn't keep up, we weren't rehearsed enough... to me his heart wasn't in it like PLC's were. BUT... Assuming there's absolutely nothing left of RP's in the vaults that could be salvaged- the roughest of Demos even - then these 2 new tracks will be it. IF Rossi happened to come up with something brilliant (like he was capable of doing on MOTT for example) and assuming his lead fitted in with the style of songs - would Al and John really turn down a final opportunity for the FF?? I'm not sure! But either way, they will still be eagerly awaited. That'll do perfectly.

I don't think Francis will be interested. Fine by me.

I think it's quite likely he will be asked, if only informally, but I admit good arguments are there for keeping them as if Rick were still with us, both for musical and historical reasons.

It's a tricky one. At first glance I'm tempted to say don't be obstinate or bear a grudge towards him, but the arguments against him doing it ring true. Personally, it's the first new FF material for 36 years, and the last we'll ever get, excluding anything that may be in the vaults. I'd like to think in light of Rick's passing, Frame's approach would be consciously tasteful and spirited. He is part of the FF after all and listen how the reunions reminded him. It's only the novelty factor that piques the curiosity of wondering how a perhaps rawer, more stripped down F3 would sound. But I know I'd wonder for the rest of my days how much better it could have sounded with Rossi on it. Depends, I suppose. It'll probably be great regardless, such is blind faith. Dunno why the feck I posted all that really! Why choose? We can have both. The original versions and the versions with Francis adding embellishments. Doesn't sound strange to me...

If the Heavy Traffic era interview is any indication, there should be a lot of demos by Rick for songs that didn't make the albums for one reason or another. And I sort of doubt that he wouldn't have prepared anything for the solo album he'd been talking about...

I would rather hear Drifting Away, how it was mean't to be, as opposed to hearing Dolly Parton's version of it.

Quo do some Songs with the Band Walkway this Year! Went to their website because of your post. They claim they were writing songs for Rick. Apparently they will record 'Rain' as a tribute as well. Never heard of Walkway.

Thought about it some more.....i don't think there's any chance of Rossi "offering" to play on the tracks, even he wouldn't be that clumsy, plus he'd know there'd be a good chance of being told to fuck off if he did....and just can't really see Alan or John asking him....so although i personally wouldve liked it, for dare i say it, "nostagic" reasons, i don't think there's much chance of it happening.

It's very sharp sounding for some reason
