The more I think about the band now being the FRband, it makes sense for another reason. When I saw the other FRband on the solo tour in 2010, I was surprised how like Quo it sounded. I'd had this fantasy that he'd play quite different songs. But as he's always said, I am Quo (or at least he's one of them) and that is his sound. So yes, its now the FRband playing SQuo songs. I think, almost but not quite. Francis may have the band's "tune" but he doesn't have the band's sound. He is the "Quo man" for me (always has been, because of the singing) BUT he can't do the Quo sound by himself, and his solo tour only had the Rossi sound, which isn't enough to keep me in. I will always wish him well and will go to his gigs as/when it's a convenient moment - which is not quite the same thing as being a fan. He won't get the audience to sustain his solo work, I don't think. I realised after the London gig - if he wants to play C&W, he's going to have to bring a Quo level of guitar energy into it. He does not have to jump around, though I saw him put in three leaps towards the end of HYB, and thought, honour due, Francis. (I managed a few more than that, point of honour, but did my poor quads ache for the next two days ... )
