"There would probably have been room for me if I decided I wanted to, but I’m not a great fan of the whole acoustic malarkey. It doesn’t float my boat. What I am disappointed in is missing the last of the band’s electric shows."

You just beat me to it, ya bastard!!! Bye Rick. To be honest, if you had I would have just deleted your thread and replaced it with my own. Seriously though, end of an era. Whit a shame it ended the way it did. Played himself into the ground with the band's constant, tedious, repetitive gigging. So yep, I'll raise a wee glass later for Rick.

What a sad, messy ending.
So we've got acoustic shows next year, presumably in the Spring.
No doubt there will be electric shows over the summer at the usual picnic venues.
And then they've got their Oz cruise.
And then what? Is that it? Or will they backtrack again over doing another electric tour?

If he's that well again, why can't he just join them for the very last show on the electrics tour? That would have been awesome!

Good decision Rick, walk away with your head held high and dont look back. In a few years Rick will be the one remembered for helping to make the band how great it was, Francis will be the one remembered for completely destroying it. When i say destroying it i don't mean by carrying on with the last electric tour, i get the reasons for doing that, but for the whole aquostic project, its just crap, REALLY crap, and Rick is better off out of it as far as i can see.

Very sad to hear but the right decision imo. If it is only accoustic shows from now on, then why should he do that? Why should any of them do that? It was ok as a one off side project a (I liked a few off AQ1) but not as a sustainable career path. I think someone was being overly optimistic thinking that there is a big enough audience of joe public to sell this to.
Good luck Rick. Keep on rockin' for many years to come, but in manageble doses. Such a shame you had to endure the long and debilitating tours of the last few years. A few select dates with the original line up would have been better but obviously the business plan took precedence.

I wouldn't say a Gold album is destroying a band, obviously there are people out there who likes the Aquostic stuff

Russ Abbot should be at the bottom of the pile. If the motivation to buy an album is because the band take their clothes off then they are not Quo fans nor music fans. Pure and simple.
