Don't think it is as black & white as people make out. Francis didn't want to the film, he didn't want to the acoustic album and I don't think he wanted to appear in Coronation Street. The Quo Christmas song, was (partly) a RP composition and I won't go into his earlier Christmas attempt. In the interview Rick says that although he won't be performing he still has an interest in Quo. To me that is financial and it is RICK's interest to keep the money coming in from Quo recordings/gigs. For promoters it is safer to have a product will turn up & do the work. How long will an acoustic Quo last?Likely not that long, the casual fan wants the hits and will tire of acoustic shows quite quickly. A final electric tour, an acoustic one and a few bits & pieces WITH Rick's blessing will pull in the bit of ready cash for the main shareholders. Once the existing commitments have been fulfilled, and maybe a few other lucrative ones and then that is the end with royalties being collected in and shared out. Both RP & FR will more or less go their separate ways. FR will likely find enough to keep him occupied, pottering around the house/garden, his family, some producing/writing and maybe the odd solo show/tour. RP, I worry more about, he really hasn't much produced any written material for a while, (third) marriage (apparently) on the rocks, young kids in a different country, with their mum. Health not too great and previous indications suggest an addictive personality. He has previously tried business ventures - the game didn't really take off, don't think Facelift/Rockano I the great hit that was hoped for. The was was property venture in Spain but no idea what the deal was there. I wish Rick and Francis the best and I hope Rick's health is good and bad someh finds peace and contentment. Thank you Jaynee, is is scary but I think it is near the truth, for Rick anyway. I find that I mostly hope that his young kids will have a chance to grow up with him and love him, and not have to go through the pain and stress that RPJ did. If Rick can play guest slots like he did with the orchestra, they he can continue to play and take his music around without constantly being away and further undermining his health.

Rexit!
No doubt it will be painful for him as he watches the others carrying on, but once back to full health just imagine the possibility of new alliances with John and Alan!
All these lost years of having to make albums full of 'roundabout' music.
Wanting to change the set but being blocked by Francis.
Look forward to seeing you back out there and rockin' again very soon Rick!
No more having to do what Francis says!
You ARE Status Quo.

I have always got the impression that Rick wants the greatest hits setlist. He's always dragging on about how when he's at a concert he only wants to hear the hits and jadajada on the interviews..

It seems that he was happy enough to go along with it until "he fell over". And now that he's more or less out of Quo, he's quietly running them down. That's Rick's own assessment of his health, not his doctor's. In other interviews with Rick, he says he can't handle the stress of going back on stage. So which is true? He went along with Accoustic to toe the party line. You could tell by the fact that he flew in just to add the vocals to what was almost the finished product. The interviews with Rick on his health/stress was some time ago, he appears to have recovered well by his own admission. He will know himself if he's ready to pick up a guitar live or even in studio again. That is his decision, and if he doesn't want to continue in the caberet cruise-ship tribute band that Quo are now..that is his decision. I hope he is dit and would love to see him.play some real loud rock again. Health permitting of course. But he clearly has had enough of Rossi's idea of live music. And I dont blame him.

And a bloody motor on the guitar. His way of hammering on the strings have always amazed me. What a legend indeed! Dare I say the best rhythm guitarist in the world?
