I’m going to break ranks , stick my neck out and say I think this is great.
I love the drive of it and as one of my pals pointed out, the ending is great with that wee bit of Rossi guitar before the final dunt.
If you like the way they play it live I reckon you’ll enjoy this version

But it does show the importance of good drumming sound. The drums on backbone are horrible. This is far better. There’s ambience and a live feel.
Guitars sound good as well

Haven't heard it yet. Haven't got round to getting the CD, although I appreciate I can probably listen to a sample on iTunes or somewhere. Too many things getting in the way. Holidays, apathy etc I'll get there. When I do, I doubt I'll be focussing on the snare drum though. Sorry, Leon

I think it's absolute rubbish... Has no redeeming features for me. Sounds lackluster, with no drive! Is there a need for that much autotune on the vocals?
Also, that clip above, are people sitting at a table suspended in the air?

Given that the band are all dressed in black, can I assume this was broadcast fairly recently? Or are we reliving the Don't Stop period? Oh joy Actually, I listened to a sample of it earlier today on iTunes and I thought it sounded OK. But I guess it was re-recorded (or remastered, or remixed, or tinkered with or whatever) for performances like this one. For TV, as Francis has already alluded to. Call me old fashioned, though, but if I want to listen to Paper Plane, there is a perfectly good version recorded in 1972 I can turn to. This doesn't detract from that but neither does it add anything. The one good thing I can say about that entire video is that the band look fit and well. Actually, they look good

Quite a nice tribute to Status Quo there. The song and the sound given the respect it deserves. I would think Quo would have been happy with the version from this band. A far cry from 1972 but not a bad effort from a well polished tribute act.

Yes, it's 'fine' I guess but pointless and a wee bit sterile. Why do they keep covering themselves and remaking tracks that aren't any better than the original, or in this case, not even as good. Rossi is autotuned as well. 😟

Hands up anyone who thinks the German TV video reminds them of this. Age is scary, innit?

Once I got over my instant auto-reaction of expecting "Snoopy vc the Red baron " (sorry, ingrained since an early age) this was a pleasure to hear Swinging along. That wasn't them doing it live, was it? It sounded too clean.

So, I had a listen to this German TV appearance. And to my ears, its Corporate Quo. As 4th Chord notes, it's sterile.
I listened again to the original to remind myself what I like about it. It's got a fuzzy, dirty, earthy quality which makes sense of those crazy lyrics from the hippie, druggy culture of the early 70s. I also love how young Francis's nasal voice works with it.
I listened again to the 2022 recording and I felt sad for him. It must feel strange to sing that song in your 70s, totally sober and not think,"wtf is all this about?". And so they've made it sound slick and polished instead.
Fair play to anyone who enjoys it. That crowd seemed too. I'll stick to my early recording.
