Irrespective of which recording is better (it’s 1972 isn’t it!?) I think we can all appreciate this is just the ultimate quo single. 3 minutes of perfection.

No arguments there...* *1972 single release. Not this one. Absolutely not this one! Why the hell is it drowned in auto tune?? I cannot understand that at all. It's not exactly high, apart from the harmony Rick did, which you can't even hear in this. Ah I don't know. I'm keeping the hard-core fan flame lit I suppose 🤣

Hands up anyone who thinks the German TV video reminds them of this. Age is scary, innit? Going back 50 years ago and still ROCKS! Nothing beats the original QUO.

So, I had a listen to this German TV appearance. And to my ears, its Corporate Quo. As 4th Chord notes, it's sterile. I listened again to the original to remind myself what I like about it. It's got a fuzzy, dirty, earthy quality which makes sense of those crazy lyrics from the hippie, druggy culture of the early 70s. I also love how young Francis's nasal voice works with it. I listened again to the 2022 recording and I felt sad for him. It must feel strange to sing that song in your 70s, totally sober and not think,"wtf is all this about?". And so they've made it sound slick and polished instead. Fair play to anyone who enjoys it. That crowd seemed too. I'll stick to my early recording. Mind you, 50 years between versions. 50! Incredible to take that in. In 1972, it would be like a song from 1922. Yikes.

You old flapper, you I don't mind the new version. I'm quite neutral about it. It is 'sterile' by comparison but it has all the new technology behind it. This wasn't 4 or 5 blokes sitting in a dingy studio in a basement somewhere. It was pieced together like a jigsaw. You're bound to lose some of the organic quality in the music. We know why it was done. It's just a shame it had to be. Francis did want to get away from playing Rockin' on pretty much every single TV promotional appearance. And for that we should grateful

Listened again... (Not that I'm sort of wizard)
I can't... Paper Plane is one of the greatest Rock n Roll singles of all time IMO...
I get why Francis done it. Makes sense for TV appearances etc..
But, come on!! Do it justice!! It's a great song ffs!

That's a massive improvement on the original. Hopefully, they'll put Big Fat Mama right next; possibly with Rhino on vocals.

I understand that they want to rerecord it for TV performances even though I would have preferred a real live version. It's totally pointless to release this version anywhere else though. It's not good enough, adds nothing new and can't compete with the original.

Haven't heard it yet. Haven't got round to getting the CD, although I appreciate I can probably listen to a sample on iTunes or somewhere. Too many things getting in the way. Holidays, apathy etc I'll get there. When I do, I doubt I'll be focussing on the snare drum though. Sorry, Leon There you go! Quo have gone from being sponsored by Levis in 1976 to sponsored by M&S in 2022. The image is so armchair.

I still think they were probably wearing black because of recent events. Although they were never going to pitch up "hell bent for leather" I think they look pretty sharp. My hair isn't exactly down my own back these days and, frankly, I'd think I looked a dick if I wore a band t-shirt and a denim 'suit' at my age. I just have to get used to this pencil skirt and these slingbacks. They're rubbing

Leon enjoying himself, from the 10 seconds I saw it sounds fine. Sorry but I find it painful to watch, that just doesn't look like SQ to me.
