The remix by John EDen is brilliant although I still hate the title track ,Baby Boy and For You Not one I go back to much a strange period for Quo along with IYCSTH. Cheers

Not sure how many fans even know about the remix.
For me it turns a three star album into a four star one. In particular, Let's Ride and You Don't Own Me are uplifted from 4 to 5 stars. The title track is also lifted, without question the definitive version
Not so good as the classic Quo albums, by this point the band were recording individual songs and didn't work on them together much as a band. But they were still one hell of a band.
Apart from baby boy, I really like or love all of this.
Aside from the glorious run of mkgs to bfu, the remix has to be a contender for best of the rest

I could do 2 reviews here. Let’s start with the 17 year old running upstairs new album in hand on to the turntable then....What’s this ?? What has happened. Are my speakers connected properly. Such a massive disappointment were my thoughts. Quo turn there backs on everything they stood for. I was expecting a barnstormer, after all Punk was out there, Energetic and loud. For weeks running up to the release I thought Quo’ll show em....What did we get...A damp Squib..loads of ammunition for the Muso press who had drifted to punk to take the piss even more out of Quo. Even bands releasing Quo Mock singles. All in the space of a year. The all conquering band of 1976 to nil respect apart from their loyal fans. 2nd review as of today. In my mellow advancing years I like it more than dislike it. But even the remix can’t turn it into a OTL or BFY. Anyway Punk died a death a long time ago and Quo survived. What do we know 😂

For me the album marks the end of the Frantic four.
Andy may not have been a full member but his arrival marked the change in the bands dynamic. How much creative input he had we don't really know but due to his recording contract at the time I suspect, that is the reason he isn't credited to one or more songs. To me Hold you back has his input. I could be wrong.
Francis certainly and I assume Rick and Alan decided a change in direction was needed. It certainly is a change.
It is very light in arrangement. A transition album in some ways that would come to its superior conclusion in Whatever you want.
Rocking to Never too late are a group of albums where the band don't ever nail what they want. Maybe down to growing apart as people and musical vision.
But to the actual album. Most of the songs are very good but nothing for me that would make a best of. Although I do really like Rockers rollin', You don't own me and Lets ride.
Others are canny to be fair. Maybe its my age but I always liked Dirty water especially live same with Hold you back.
Would I have loved it more if the newer mix was the original to be honest no. There is no saving For you or Baby boy.
It is funny if you asked me do I love the album I would say not really but if you ask me track by track I do really like a lot of the songs.
But when you have been served steak for 6 years and then offered burgers its just not the same. Not their worst album of the 70s but their second worst. Although I would say that of the albums 1970-81 to.

You know, I quite like the slower, demo version of Baby Boy. Quite melancholic.

Clearly not for everyone, but I love For You
Pleased it made the set at some point. Unfortunately Rick's voice wasn't great the night I saw them, but Francis totally nailed the solo - he sat down and concentrated!

It's nowhere near their best but I've always liked the album. There's some great tunes on there.
The John Eden remix breathed new life into it and is particularly good.
