Definitely not done for radio purposes, as a different mix of Rockin' All Over The World was broadcast at the time on radio airwaves prior to it's release as a single (IIRC). Someone mentioned it to John on his youtube channel. Early mixes / rough mixes back then weren't uncommon to be sent to radio or TV stations to be used. There's a full version of Something 'Bout You Baby I Like on youtube somewhere from a TV playback performance, with live vocals... and another video with an early mix for What You're Proposing, but I've not seen that one for a while. Just like the early version of Marguerita Time which can be heard on the Cannon & Ball appearance. Your spot on there. John Peel was the very first DJ to play Rockin. And it was at least a month before it’s official release. I was sick of waiting for it at the end. I remember there was a snipit in Sounds saying delay was due to the Poster delay which was supposed to come with the Pic sleeve ltd edition of the Single. Probably not the reason but that poster was eventually printed. That John Peel playback that evening was most definitely a different mix. It was as you would expect. Chalk and cheese to the official release. I wonder wether he played an early acetate mix or something. Wish that mix could be found again. Could be still in his archives maybe ? it was possibly the only hard copy of the mix at the time. If the BBC still have the radio transmission in their archives, then it possibly does still exist. I've not really come across any Alt. Mixes from the Rockin' album

Been listening to the remix. Still 2 or 3 tracks too long for me. Would drop RAOTW Baby Boy (although the demo is far xuperior) and possibly Dirty Water or You Dont Own Me. Stand out for me Hard Time , which I really like and the outro's from Rockers and CGYM . Do like the slower numbers For You and Who Am I ( hence maybe drop DW for a better album balance) . Hold Uou Back and Let's Ride ok but the one which I really find frustrating is Too Far Gone . Seems like a work in progress and could almost be good but just misses it for some reason. Any way that's what I think. Never a classic and even the remix, whilst enjoyable, cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

I quite like the album. Definitely prefer the remix to the original release.
Studio Tempo of Dirty Water // Remix Version
Rockers Rollin' // Remix Version // Rick stomping his Electric Mistress pedal during the intro and no fade-out.

Well as some of you already mentioned there is to much songs on this album. There is a couple of good songs but no great ones. We can't blame only the production for this lightweight product as the songwriting had changed a lot too. Many likes Rockers Rollin but compared to Rick's output a year earlier (Rain and Mystery Song) this is poor, what happened? Hold You Back is the highlight for me even if it's better live.

What happened? They were constantly touring without any rest and taking a lot of drugs and alcohol to survive. I'm not surprised they couldn't keep up the standard. Having recently read Francis' autobiography, I'm surprised they released any material at all.

This board is the only social media I do. Anyone social enough to link to this article? I think he’s referring to the Ling article on the Best Quo albums. Which has its own thread on here.

The album when Quo lost their oomph. Sadly, they never got it back. The remix is interesting, but you can't put the oomph back in if wasn't there in the first place. I've no great issue with the material, but I have with the sound.

I was 14 years old when this album came out...It was(and still is) one of the biggest disappointments in my life. Exactly! I was twelve and I remember the weak sound was quite a chock. I first checked if there maybe was lots of dust stuck on the pickup-needle, then checked if someone in my family had turned the bass off on the stereo but as nothing helped I went back to the record store and told them my copy was damaged. I got a new copy, went back home and realised the sound was still awful. What a massive dissapointment! John Eden’s remix finally brought some life in this album. Lots of good songs (I only use to skip Baby Boy and the title track) so I’m so happy that we finally got to hear them with proper sound!

I was the grand old age of 20 when it came out. Already a veteran I still liked it though. The sound was thin but cranked up on headphones that had a wire 8 feet long so I could play darts in my room and it was fine. Bluetooth, eh? Who needs it?

Bought this album out of order so I have a different view perhaps ? I still love RAOTW, not ashamed to say I still think it is an absolute belter of a song and have the ability to separate it from the casual follower/ Wedding Song brigade who think that what Quo is/was all about. Rockers rollin, Who Am I, Hard Time, Hold You Back..what is not too like ? Ok yes I agree a bit of a shock from,On The Level, Quo, Hello and Piledriver but perhaps we could see a bit of change starting to happen even with Blue For You just prior?
Thing is I like to bit of tune with my rock so don't mind it not being as heavy. Love ACDC, a bit of Iron Maiden and Motorhead, Def Leppard, Deep Purple but not into a lot of the wall of noise heavy metal stuff so not a problem for me.
Having said that it does lack a touch of depth in terms of songs like Lonely Man, A Year or Over and Done which complimented the earlier albums and never even made single release.
Peace and love to all.

perhaps we could see a bit of change starting to happen even with Blue For You just prior? I honestly think that every song on BFY is better than the best song on RAOTW. I'm not saying that RAOTW is a bad album over all, but BFY is brilliant! You can't compare for example Rain with Rockers Rollin' in my world.
