If JCQ released new music the comparison might be a bit fairer. As it is, only one band is a full band entity. So what? Rossi's band only plays Frantic Four tracks, just like Coghlan's. They'll play tracks off a new album to sell copies, but then they revert back to being a tribute band. The only question is whether you like Rossi's singing/playing more than you do Coghlan's drumming. As for which band has the better parts besides those two, any bad with Edwards in it is at a severe disadvantage.

Did you see my previous quote to you about your take on Status Quo and Coghlan's band, when JC left Quo and Rossi Hasn't?? Quo Lite as you put it, is Status Quo (officially) your favourite band If you're happy with Quo Lite, more power to you. As I said, I rather like them. But just as you're willing to label a blander, more watered down product as the real Status Quo, I am not. Whatever they call themselves, they are Quo Lite. They are the only Status Quo, lite or not and yes I am still happy with the band.

Well no disrespect to JC but he may be a talented drummer but there is only one winner there in a 2 horse race !! You also have a constant dislike for Rhino so I’ll make no comment on that part of your argument. My final point is you like to back up your arguments by saying you rather like Quo Lite. Is that not just your defence mechanism as you could have fooled me !br]

I dont like The Winner (The Song) and I have any respect left for your winner from the horse race.
I have much more respect for John he never talked so bad about others like Francis and he knew what to do after Rick died.

I’m just putting a counter argument across purely on contributions as musicians. Whatever their persona’s or actions away from being a musician I don’t think is relevant in the discussion and merits of their contributions musically.

There's no sense whatsoever in calling Status Quo a tribute band. I have to agree I preferred your tone and choice of words when you were still a relative newbie to the band. Being around so much negativity seems to really have coloured your view of the band... Rossi does not only play Frantic Four tracks! And as one of Quo's main writers/singers he certainly has more weight behind him calling his band Status Quo, and playing mostly songs that he (co-)wrote, than any drummer has - and that includes Matt, who actually wrote a few songs...

But they are not the same band as Status Quo, it's that simple.
As for disliking Rhino, I don't know the guy, I can only judge his bass playing, which doesn't appeal to me at all, and his singing, which is awful. I sing better than he does and I can't sing a lick. His song writing is also generally pedantic, but other than those things he's awesome.
And in a 2 horse race you're right, there's only one winner as to which man represents Status Quo: it's John Coghlan.

The negativity hasn't affected me at all. I make my living by doing research and drawing conclusions. That's what I did in this case. The current Quo Lite is just another tribute band, and not the best of them, either. And if their later compositions compare so favorably to the FF period, why don't they play more of them"
As for me, I would probably pay to see Quo Lite if they played THEIR hits. That would be awesome, and that would fit the lineup. I could put together one helluva set list with post-1986 material.

I must admit I don't get the Quo lite stuff at all. Quo is Quo it's just music. I also enjoy the early 70's albums infinitely more than what's come since. That run of classic albums was just wonderful. Quo Lite if it exists should be everything from the "Live" album on. Looking forward to Backbone, first actual physical release I've bought since Rick's solo album. I'm sure I'll hate some of the tracks but hoping there's more than a few I really enjoy. There are very few albums I've ever owned that I enjoy every track on.
