Ok ish if not spectacular...Production (from the 80's onwards) tended to 'make or break' a Quo album, and this sounds good (Guitars to the fore etc) Hardly going to be classic Quo but that era was 'over and done' decades ago, if the album continues in the vein it'll be ok too, any Bands '33rd' album is never going to break new ground is it? Still looking forward to the Day of Release in this household

I'm assuming you would know. You dismiss Status Quo as Status Quo and call them a made up name of Francis Rossi's Quo (that band name doesn't exist). Then you go on to say if there is a real Quo, it's JC's Quo ( A tribute band ) so I am assuming I would know. If you meant like 4th has said that they sound more like the FF than anybody then that's a different argument altogether. Go back a small amount of years and you were more than happy with the current band at the time if memory serves. Yes, I was. When I first came across them. Before I'd had a full chance to absorb them and study them. And if JC's band is a tribute band, with one original member, then so is Rossi's. Can't have it both ways. Rhino was always an inferior replacement and no drummed has ever been better than JC, although some were quite good in their own right.
This lineup has the right to call themselves SQ, and if you wish them to be so to you then more power to you. I will call them what Rick Parfitt called them: Quo Lite.

So you liked them and just because you heard the likes of Piledriver etc.,, you suddenly decided you didn’t like them ! That sounds like a right load of bollocks to me. If I liked a band and decided to seek out earlier material. If I liked that material better it wouldn’t suddenly make me dislike what I liked in the first place. It would make me more proud of them !!

Rubbish, JC left Status Quo in 1981/1982, the band carried on without him. He has a tribute band called JC's Quo. Francis Rossi has never left and continues to be in the band Status Quo, albeit with other members, Rhino 33 years and Andy Bown over 40 of course. Both ways doesn't come in to it.

From what I’ve read of americanquo posts over the years he has and still does appreciate a lot of the music released by Quo over the last decade or so, but he just enjoys the music from the 70s/early 80s more I guess. Quo, heading into their 7th decade of being in the ‘big show’ of music entertainment, will have many fans of their various genres. I think it’s great that Quo is still relevant to us in some way or another.

They are what they are, Quo Lite. I LIKE THIS BAND. There, do you feel better? I like Quo Lite and have all of their albums. Except Bula and the two tragedies with the accordion in them. But I have the rest and will likely buy Backbone. I play them sometimes and sing along with the good songs, which are usually about half of them.
But having said that, it's equally true that this current lineup is no more actual Status Quo than Coghlan's band is, and neither are the real Status Quo. That band is now gone forever.
So to be clear. I like Quo Lite, but Status Quo is my favorite band, and they are not even close to the same thing.

Did you see my previous quote to you about your take on Status Quo and Coghlan's band, when JC left Quo and Rossi Hasn't?? Quo Lite as you put it, is Status Quo (officially) your favourite band

If JCQ released new music the comparison might be a bit fairer. As it is, only one band is a full band entity.

But just as you're willing to label a blander, more watered down product as the real Status Quo, I am not. Whatever they call themselves, they are Quo Lite.
