Would it be a good point in the thread to bring up Marguerita Time? Going Downtown Tonight.
So I actually listened to that recently to see if I was right about Alan lifting up bad songs by giving them the driving force Quo always had, and I think that song is a prima facie case. He's playing it like a hard rock song, while obviously Rossi wanted pop. The song really is pretty good (if you get rid of the damned synthesizers)...it's not Quo, no, but as AL said it's a good song. But it was him that elevated it.

Considering the writing credits on that song aren't what you'd call accurate I'd hope so. Mind you I only play that stuff live every couple of years, I prefer to live in the now setlist wise. If you ever manage a UK show Tony and you don’t play Tarot Woman, retribution will be swift and ruthless..... Hang on, excuse me if I'm late to the party, but is Blue Highway Tony Carey?

It's a TERRIBLE song, by far the worst on that album (which I still like)

In a recent radio interview, Rossi said that Ricks guitar was an offensive sound in recent years... hmm

Alan doesn't play on either version. It's a synthesized bass on the re-recorded version. Drums are programmed, and probably just Rossi and Frost, maybe Bown too. Listen also to the track "I Wonder Why", and it's more or less the same instrumentation and format. So Rossi basically put it forward twice under the guise of a Quo recording.

He didn't play on the first version? Because it sure as hell sounds like him.

I'm afraid i can't recall the source though. To be fair, anyone could play that bass line. It may be synthesized also. Or Andy Bown could have played it, as well as the keyboards. Again, the drums are definitely from a drum machine. It has all the hallmarks of a demo!
