Is this confirmed? Weren't there more cancelled singles? TCTTG and Naughty Girl were cancelled? I guess Jealousy is included here as it was released in some territories. Those are the ones I was thinking of. As far as released in some territories, Rockers Rollin'/Hold You Back was a hit in many countries but not included in Vol. 1

Lol. Dat cover... it uses the original Ommadawn font but otherwise not sure it's an improvement... I've listened to the album and not sure what to think yet, but yes it does sound like the early MO records. Well FH, my experience with the album has been that it starts to sound better every time it's played, so keep playing it for a while I definitely will, I got the deluxe edition so I can check out the 5.1 as well. It's just a case of finding the time to concentrate on something like this for 40 minutes.

Pretty much everything that Manfred Mann has ever touched (with few exceptions). The guy sure knows how to arrange a normal song and turn it into something special.

........Alan Lancaster on ROLD: "Roll Over Lay Down was written by me and Rick first off, Francis came in with the riff and Bob came in with some words. We didn't want to leave John out, so I suggested that he'd be credited as well."............
That probably means the first riff Francis plays & repeats at the start, which is uncannily similar to the intro on Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Commotion', even in the same key
Mikey
The other side of the coin is a track like Softer Ride, which clearly has the Rossi influence but wasn't credited to him as well.

Basically, I could go into my band and say "I wrote this" and play them a riff, a chord sequence and some lyrics. We'd jam it out and the drummer would come up with his parts, bass player his parts, singer the melody etc The song would come together and even someone could come up with an idea of changing the style of the song and it would work and that's the way it would go. However, I can still insist that because it was my idea and "my song" that I claim all credit for it. A lot of bands have done this throughout the years and it's led to bitter rows and break ups. The only band I know who say everyone wrote the songs, even though they didn't is U2. And they've been together 41 years, in their original form. Explains a lot Don't Rush also do that, they say Lyrics Neil Peart, Music Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. True, but there's a few exceptions. YYZ (instrumental) is Music Lee / Peart... (despite Alex playing a lot of great stuff, including an unusual solo, it seems he wasn't involved with the writing)

Box 2 ends with the "Going Down Town Tonight" single. 12 singles (as it includes the cancelled "Jealousy" single). Is this confirmed? Weren't there more cancelled singles?

Any good inaccurate facts about the band to go on? I'm an anorak for them. Rossi is a hermaphrodite. Leon Cave is an Incubus. Rhino once worked as a chicken sexer in Libya. Nuff's moustache is fake - it's made from the hair of the Tasmanian Devil. Pat Barlow loved it up the arse. Rick wore crotchless Jacob Rees Mogg every day while recording the "On the Level" album. Roy Lynes was the first human/racehorse hybrid.Spud has a large collection of Peruvian fertility dolls. Andy Bown weighs just four ounces. Will those do? Wonderful

It's not a decade thing, just a case of dividing all the singles up into similarly sized packages. Also, this set spans the exact same time as 12 Gold Bars Vol. 1, which is a nice coincidence. So the next set won't be '80-'89? '80-'84 sounds far more likely to me. They released a lot of singles in that period!

I see they've missed out What You're Proposing / A B Blues & Lies / Don't Drive My Car! Decades always used to run 1-10, rather than 0-9 - just like centuries running 1-100 & millenia 1-1000, not 0-999. That's why I questioned it as I'm Brian as well. Though spelt Bryan, I get defensive when someone seems to be taking the mick. As I had a teacher who used to take the piss out of my name once. Could be worse, I still get Birthday and Christmas cards, made out to "Brain" ffs That reminds me of a story where (supposedly) somebody clueless who was working in a record store filed the ELP album "Brain Salad Surgery" under the artist name "Brian Salad" - album title "Surgery"! Nevermind...

As if there wasn't already too many Brians on this thread (FW and the guy who used to be in AC/DC...) Well let's start talking about Queen as well then Funnily enough, Queen are sort of the antithesis to the whole thing of "bands imploding". Of course Freddie's HIV diagnosis had a lot to do with it, but here's a group that really seemed to pull together to create quality product when other bands their age were just going through the motions.

Yeah true although, AC/DC seemed to be on tour every year up until 1996. U2 slowed down on the touring since 2002, but, they've gotten more active as of lately. I thought he sounded stupid when he said that but, suppose with drink and drugs it's near impossible to live a healthy lifestyle ha. Brian is my name. He's laughing at me That's why I questioned it as I'm Brian as well. Though spelt Bryan, I get defensive when someone seems to be taking the mick. I suppose though these other bands never recorded and toured as much as Quo. So that would have made the travel much worse. Plus as Alan said they never ate properly at the time. That would make me more irritable. BTW 111 what's with the laughing after the name Brian??. Nothing funny about the name. Yeah true although, AC/DC seemed to be on tour every year up until 1996.
