AmericanQuo's thread about Quo rarities got me thinking about Alan... I have the Life After Quo CD....and I have seen lots of different youtube clips via the boards over the years....but I was wondering what I've missed that there is out there that isn't on this CD? I think I also have a "Party Boys" album on cassette somewhere... So whats out there? Let's see if we can create an Alan Lancaster mega thread! Cheers Rick

I hope he's ok as it must be a helluva letdown to be cast aside again after those reunion gigs. I watched the Dublin gig last night and he really does complete that band. He's a true showman and adds his character to his delivery of a song. Even though he obviously has some health issue, I loved his 'the show must go on attitude' ... he has a lot of heart for the band and the fans.

I put Life After Quo on my wish list, but would you mind giving us a track listing?
I think Quo 2 shows what life could have been like with AL instead of Rhino, but it also shows just how valuable JC was. AL was always the hardest rocker, as is now evident, and the band misses him a lot.

The best 2 Bombers tracks in my very humble opinion are B-sides: Don't Come Easy, and Get Up and Get It On. PM me if you haven't heard 'em!

He's a true showman and adds his character to his delivery of a song. Even though he obviously has some health issue, I loved his 'the show must go on attitude' ... he has a lot of heart for the band and the fans. The main 30 yr rift was healed to enable the reunion gigs to take place. That was the hardest part by far.
As is well known enough, I've been a fan of Francis since the beginning, but I will freely admit that I have become increasingly critical and disappointed with his attitude in the last year or two - since those reunions. On the basis that, as stated above, the hard work has been done, there is no excuse whatsoever for any suggestions that differences of approach exist between himself and Alan which might hinder any sustained further working alongside Alan (and John)
Unfortunately Francis and the management have simply prioritised CQ as 'the money spinner', and not only is the Status Quo/FF legacy watered down and de-prioritised, but CQ have become a parody even of themselves by ignoring playing 95% of their own back catalogue product.
The excuse of not risking reviving differences between Francis and Alan (and also perhaps John) is a very weak and very poorly transparent and obvious attempt at distraction from this, because of the simple fact of priorities as outlined above. Everyone has seen for themselves what the return of Alan and John did in terms of musical inspiration not just for the purposes of the reunited FF and the effect they had on fans at the gigs, but also the difference it made to Francis and Rick on those occasions compared to their functional automaton type roles on the live stage with CQ.
The deliberate dumbing down of all this by the Quo management and Francis (with Rick unfortunately sitting too much in the middle to exert what might be 'helpful' influence and pressure) is at least as disappointing and frustrating as the attitude CQ have towards their own live show.
The intent across the whole Quo spectrum seems to be to frustrate and alienate long standing fans rather than engage them. They look to seeing out their days in superficial commercial greatest hits nostalgia and publicity stunts rather than the style that made them famous in the first place.
I do wonder what Alan thinks when he hears Francis talk of the need to keep the money spinning to sustain his lifestyle and his family? It seems to me that Alan has been managing quite well with his wife and family down under, despite having had his Quo career cut short 30 yrs back and only having the benefit of being fed the scraps of two reunion tours all these years later....
It some ways it could be considered remarkable that Alan shows so much forgiving and goodwill towards his very old school friend as he does.
Life after Quo indeed....

I live in Australia, lucky to be born here. I thank the universe in my award speeches. Anyway, I had the pleasure of seeing hundreds of the best rock and " pop " artists in the 70's/ 80's / 90's when we had the LIVE venues. This is a long winded way of saying that I saw The Bombers many, many times in venues where your feet had to negotiate a sticky carpet floor, oh hang on that was The Manzil Room/ Springfields. I think that was the last venue I saw our beloved Englishman TED MULRY in TMG. RIP TED, what a lovely fella he was, very cheeky too.
Alan also teamed up with The Angels' John Brewster and Rose Tattoos' Angry ( Gary ) Anderson for some of the best rock gigs ever experienced. Late 80's. Alan was also in one of the best line ups of The Party Boys who had a No.1 HIT with their cover of South Africa's John Kongos 1971 song " He's Gonna Step On You Again "
The Bombers were a versatile Rock band, and you could see that Alan was having a good time playing with them.
If only the FF swallowed their pride and played small dingy clubs and bars in the USA in the 70's .......
Have I mentioned b4 how much I love Alan Lancaster.
