I live in Australia, lucky to be born here. I thank the universe in my award speeches. Anyway, I had the pleasure of seeing hundreds of the best rock and " pop " artists in the 70's/ 80's / 90's when we had the LIVE venues. This is a long winded way of saying that I saw The Bombers many, many times in venues where your feet had to negotiate a sticky carpet floor, oh hang on that was The Manzil Room/ Springfields. I think that was the last venue I saw our beloved Englishman TED MULRY in TMG. RIP TED, what a lovely fella he was, very cheeky too. Alan also teamed up with The Angels' John Brewster and Rose Tattoos' Angry ( Gary ) Anderson for some of the best rock gigs ever experienced. Late 80's. Alan was also in one of the best line ups of The Party Boys who had a No.1 HIT with their cover of South Africa's John Kongos 1971 song " He's Gonna Step On You Again " The Bombers were a versatile Rock band, and you could see that Alan was having a good time playing with them. If only the FF swallowed their pride and played small dingy clubs and bars in the USA in the 70's ....... Have I mentioned b4 how much I love Alan Lancaster. You saw The Bombers many many times... where? They weren't that popular here and weren't by any means a mainstream act. Why the f would one of Britains best play in small dingy pubs/clubs in USA? Tell me... how did The Beatles , Stones and other Pommie bands have success in USA? Promotion by good management... which Quo lacked!!

This never did turn into the thread I hoped it would!
I can't find a definitive A-Z of everything he wrote, recorded, contributed to, played with.
I assume my "life after Quo" CD is some sort of compilation, but compiled from what I don't really know

Starter for 10 - here' a link to The Party Boys - if you scroll down you will find an entry for the album Alan did with them - you will see him on the cover: rockonvinyl.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/The%20Party%20BoysHe was also instrumental in The Bombers, of course - their Aim High album is excellent. A bootleg of rehearsals for a tour including several Quo tracks (including the best rocked up Matchstickmen that there is) can also be found. This is well worth having. Hope this helps.

Also look for the "Gaslight Demos" with Marseilles and quite a few other good songs. No Over the Edge but you'll hear that thumpin'......

To be honest - current Quo get a lot of stick for dodgy tunes but this thing Nuff did for the PB's makes me skip every time!

To be honest - current Quo get a lot of stick for dodgy tunes but this thing Nuff did for the PB's makes me skip every time! When I first heard this song, it brought a lump to my throat. Alan sounds hurt and bitter, and I took it that this was about the split with Quo. Dunno if anyone has asked Alan about this one?
