Or... was it Pips finest moment? Now you see this track confuses me. We know that Pip did the Army solo, however he also produced it. Red Sky and Rollin Home were Dave Edmunds produced tracks so did Pip have anything to do with RS. That solo does not really sound like Francis. There's some whammy bar in it which I have never heard Anywhere else in a Quo song. Was it Pip or was it Dave as he is no slouch as a guitarist either.

It's an odd one...
One half of it sounds like Rossi, the other half doesn't

As it was produced by Dave Edmunds another distinct possibility is Mickey Gee, Dave used Mickey on a load of session work through the 70s and 80s.

It's nothing Francis couldn't play, but since he got Pip to do solos on recordings he should have been doing himself, it serves him right if the best bits get attributed to someone else!
Also he dissed Dave Edmunds afterwards for sounding too 60s, or something. Not that I'm a mad fan of Dave's, but if you don't want the Dave Edmunds sound, why hire Dave Edmunds? (RS and the one about sand are the best two tracks amyway.)

Francis looks like he doesn't have the slightest of clue what to play when the solo comes in

This solo reminds me of the solo of Take Me Away. Not the same tempo but the same feel.

Who wasn't in the 80's I'm sure they'll have had wheelbarrows of cocaine coming into the ToTP studio... Jeff was out with Def Leppard during that appearance on ToTP i'm guessing?

There was the odd times throughout the 70's when the did put some effort into playback performances, John could never give a toss but later on, neither did the rest of the band
