Where do Quo sit with me? I suppose that depends on which Quo we're talking about.
I can listen to anything from POMMFTSQ though to NTL without hesitation (hell, even IYCSTH!). But from MKGS thorugh to BFY RAOTW (now it's been remix by John Eden) are the dogs dangly bits. Watching Rossi contort not just his face but his body along with those jiggy solos hit the nail on the head for me along with the power of the rest of the band. Rossi was my god. This is what music was about for me. I didn't discover Quo until the late 70's due to my age but oh boy did I make up for it buying those albums (and nicking my old mans vinyl too!). This era of Quo to me is my favourite band, no one can touch them.
But from '82 onwards it's a different story. I could listen to some of it but I could take it or leave it, and from, I'd say, '88 (I put 86 output with 82-84 efforts) I really lost interest. I bought their CD's out of habit but stopped after Riffs. I think Riffs was the last time I saw Quo live too (not counting the FF).
Don't get me wrong from 82 onwards, yes even much more recently, there are some bloody good tracks, but not enough for me to listen to a whole album. Luckily, I can make a playlist from Spotify for this but when you've got the likes of Hello, Quo & Piledriver etc., that list doesn't really get played much!
Other bands I love are Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, GnR, Rainbow, early-mid era Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Tom Petty.
