I agree that the sound could have been better, but though it's a bit "muddy" the album still is a clear and proud 10/10 IMO. Excellent songwriting and excellent performance all the way! Number two in the most classic "full hand"/five albums in a row ever!

10. For the simple reason that it contains the original - and best - version of "Forty Five Hundred Times". Agreed, any album with that on it has to be a 10 ! Hello a close second to Piledriver for me.

Since nothing is perfect, 9.75 out of 10. Unquestionably their best album for me.

10/10 - the best album any band has ever done. Could listen to it 24/7 without getting bored.

Seeing how I included the album cover of Piledriver in my score by giving it an extra point because of it, I have to give Hello a 9. Minus one point for the cover.

One of my problems with these types of ratings is how are we measuring this? Is it measured against other bands, or just against Quo? Because against other bands even the lesser Quo albums rate very highly, whereas against themselves there is a natural order based on personal preferences.

Because against other bands even the lesser Quo albums rate very highly, whereas against themselves there is a natural order based on personal preferences. In this scenario, where we are clearly working through the Quo albums in sequence, I exclude thoughts of other artist/albums as sorting the Quo albums into order is sufficiently complicated for me without that added complication. But each to their own, I suppose.

When you look at this it becomes a silly fcuking question.
"Roll Over Lay Down" (Rossi/Parfitt/Lancaster/Coghlan/Young) - 5:38 "Claudie" (Francis Rossi/Bob Young) - 4:06 "A Reason for Living" (Francis Rossi/Rick Parfitt) - 3:46 "Blue Eyed Lady" (Rick Parfitt/Alan Lancaster) - 3:54 "Caroline" (Francis Rossi/Bob Young) - 4:18 "Softer Ride" (Rick Parfitt/Alan Lancaster) - 4:02 "And It's Better Now" (Francis Rossi/Bob Young) - 3:20 "Forty-Five Hundred Times" (Francis Rossi/Rick Parfitt) - 9:53
