Hi all
I was recently surprised when I found 'Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again' by the Angels on YouTube ........... straightaway I said to myself, 'That's 'Lonely Night' by Quo !
Incidentally, I can't believe how the fcuk I'd never heard of the Angels 'til now - I obviously lead a much more sheltered life than I realised
I've found that 'Lonely Night' is credited to 'Coghlan/Lancaster/Parfitt/Rossi' and was a bonus track on the 'QUO' album. I seem to think I recall it being mentioned as a 'B' side on a single too (I just found it was the 'B' side to 'Break The Rules' )
I just wondered if anyone can throw any more light on this subject ?
'Lonely Night' was released in April 1974 and 'AIEGSYFA' in April 1976.
Just wondering if Quo made a fuss about the similarity of the tunes ? - I can't remember hearing or seeing anything

I believe Quo sued The Angels and won. Funny how years later Alan Lancaster joined Rick Brewster (The Angels rhythm guitarist) to play in a band called The Party Boys and they are still good mates apparently. The Angels are an Aussie band and were perhaps my favourite live act (apart from 70s Quo ) as I saw them so many times back between '77 and early 80s....just rocked the pubs brilliantly. letsrock Doc Neeson was a sensational frontman...sadly he passed away a couple of years ago.

If I remember correctly (it was a while ago I read it) that the Angels had to credit Quo on AIEGSYFA on later releases/publications.

Never heard of this group, so I thought I'd check out the "cover version" No surprise that Quo won CG I bet you would've loved The Angels back in the day. Once Bon and Angus, from AC/DC heard them they helped get them signed to the same label as them...Albert Studios in Sydney and later had The Angels support them on the Back In Black tour over here. The Angels rocked loud.

Wonder if Hendricks asked for a thank you from Quo for the lead into POMM? You know, I can hear similarities to POMM in a few later songs but for the life of me I've never heard anything resembling Hey Joe in POMM. Rossi did a shit job emulating it but a great job writing it.

My favorite Angels song is 'Marseilles', although I prefer the version Alan Lancaster's Bombers did.

By the way, Brokenman, just as Quos best albums (imo) were from Piledriver - Blue For You, The Angels best were Face To Face, No Exit, and Dark Room. letsrock

The Angels are still touring these days with only the guitar players only left in the original line-up. John Brewster & Rick Brewster, yes they are related, brothers. The new lead vocalist is ok, Dave Gleeson from The Screaming Jets, but Doc Neeson was fantastic.
